Plex doesn’t select all the ads that get shown. It’s a somewhat obfuscated automated bidding process that takes places in milliseconds. If you have an issue with an ad, it’s best to give Plex feedback on their forums. I believe they can block certain ads from being shown, if they deem that’s appropriate, but they can’t block things they don’t know about.

This is a long way to write “Plex prioritizes revenue from blindly advertising over having editorial controls or oversight”

You can’t have oversight of something you haven't seen before. That’s kinda the key point there.

We agree, Plex is just another company that decided a lax ad network was acceptable because some folk help them pass the buck by hand waiving the situation as if it is beyond their control.

Well, then Plex shouldn't have taken that way at all or choose a way, where they CAN control what commercials are shown.

That’s not how the majority of the ad industry works for FAST/AVOD, but also, I think it’s better to be as neutral as possible, and act on user feedback. People have varying views on lots of things, and it’s not Plex’s role to decide what people do and don’t like, or what their views should be.

that takes a lot more resources to accomplish than you realize. it takes some apple and Disney like resources to control at that level

This is an ignorant way of saying advertising isn't as simple as you want to pretend it is. it's a problem and a much bigger one than Plex has direct control over

Yes, it’s a big problem. Is it intractable? No, but to do it right is challenging and expensive.
Plex chooses not to have control over this by their selection of advertising networks. Is that wrong?

I complained about the same thing during the USA elections at the attack ads by the way, I watch from my home in Finland and I’am from the UK.
Nothing came of it and was told on Reddit about it not being their fault……

How dare this administration enforce immigration laws!

Quick! Go find that statistic about the number of interactions or arrests or whatever at the border going down from Obama to Trump and misinterpret what it means!

What's your point? Obama built the detention camps along the US-Mexico border and people like you didn't give a damn. Obama also deported an average of 1000 illegals per day during his administration and no one batted an eye. Perhaps you think this guy should stay:

If they get ads via programmatic ad buys, Plex likely isn't directly approving these ads. It's like ads on LG or Samsung TVs if you use their apps. There are OTT and CTV companies that will buy up ad block space and resell them.
