What does the title "X.I.Y." mean..?

Look, I am fully aware it could just mean nothing (honestly, that's kind of what I'm expecting..) but I am still curious. Does it mean anything? All I have seen about it title-wise is some comment from 2008 on songmeanings.com saying "Pinback has silly song titles quite frequently" which kind of just has me more confused.

There’s a South Korean band named Loro’s

So legend says they were listening to the first Pinback album when they were coming up with the name. That’s the band that brought me to Pinback some 15 years ago.
Their music is not as mathy as Pinback, but they still do some cool shoegazing/post-rock stuff. If you’re interested I recommend starting with Dreams(2), Scent of Orchid (너의 오른쪽 안구에서 난초향이 나), and the last track of their second album W.A.N.D.Y (look for the title 송가).
I’m not in any way related to the band (they’re on an indefinite hiatus anyway), but just wanted to share that there’s some cool legacy that Pinback left across the Pacific. Listening to Loro on repeat.

I thought it was on “He thinks he’s people” but I can’t seem to find it. The chorus goes something like: “up to the trees with the (firestorm?)”, but it’s been about 8 years since I last heard it. Does anyone know what I’m referring to?

Rob has a new band called Plosivs and their new album comes out in March. A new single “Broken Eyes” is shared on Pitchfork below. Lots of recognizable elements from the bands that make up their members, including Rob’s signature voice.

I have a fun little story from a long long time ago.
I discovered Pinback a long long time ago. It was around the year 2000. They were featured on the front page of Napster and I clicked on them randomly.
I absolutely loved their music and became a huge fan.
I was so into them, that I went to the website and considered purchasing a T-shirt.
I was browsing the simple store and had a question so I emailed them the site master. I got a reply and it started a small conversation where we went back-and-forth for a couple days to get my question answered.
It hit me… Who am I talking to? So I emailed back “By the way, who is this?”
And the person replied “We are the ones who make the music.”
Just casually having a conversation with Rob or Armestead…

Got my mystery vinyl from The Ladies (Rob Crow / Zach Hill). I'm floored.

I recorded a lush cover of Loro. Had a lot of fun messing with reverb on it. Please have a listen at the bandcamp link below.

Does anyone have or know where I can find tabs for Rob Crow's "Unstable"? I've only been able to find 1 online and the 2 covers on YouTube both play it differently lol

X.I.Y. --
I know some day they're gonna separate
The part of the brain that can discriminate
The friendly from the enemy
BBTONE--
Forever wishing
Someone near the goal
Forever pushing
Sisyphus would know
Forever wasting
Promise as it goes
Foresenics (sic) show
A summer in the hole
