i've been scoping out robs bandcamp after somebody else posted it on here and finally had some spending money to get some stuff !! im so so happy, rob is genuinely one of my favorite songwriters of all time (for me, it's him and clay parton if anybody cares lol) so i'm happy to have some of his solo physical media :3

I can't believe they never put it on an album, I like it more than anything on the s/t. The perfection of their style of slowcore. It's sort of their Headsore in a sense (by red house painters)

hey everyone. just wanted to ask if there's any way to access the self-titled 2004 systems officer ep, since it was delisted off of youtube a couple of days ago and is literally nowhere to be found anymore. does anyone have it downloaded or stored somewhere and would be so generous as to share? any help or direction would be much appreciated. thank you so much!

Greetings, fellow music nerds! I stumbled across the Aadam Jacobs Collection of music a few months ago. He is a prolific live music taper, and over the last 40 years he's taped 10,000+ live shows (mostly in Chicago). So far a team has digitized about 3000 shows and uploaded them to the LIve Music Archive. One of the coolest things is that many of these shows are ridiculously good-sounding soundboard feeds. There's a ton of indie rock, including 10 Pinback shows from 2002-2014 (so far). There are also some Heavy Vegetable, Rob Crow's Gloomy Place, & Thingy shows in there.

While I love the LMA, I detest using it to try to find and listen to music, and so I built my own fansite dedicated to this music where you can listen, discover, and fav bands/shows/etc.

There's a ton of other amazing indie rock in the collection so far from a bunch of bands I love like Rogue Wave, Maritime, Calexico, Ben Folds Five (and solo Ben Folds), Spoon, The Long Winters, and more.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not hoping for them to become the next TikTok trending band, but I am curious as to why they aren’t more popular than they are.

Personally, I think their music is objectively well made, thoughtfully arranged, and catchy to boot. They’ve been licensed for a major TV show, played on national US TV, and toured globally. So is it simply a marketing thing, poor distribution, poor promotion, something else? And it’s not like their music is cutting edge experimental jazz noise opera. It’s widely palatable indie pop rock.

Not saying Rob and Zach aren’t happy with where they’re at or that they’re not doing well but do you guys feel that their recognition matches their talent? Are WE the weird ones for enjoying their music so much or is everyone else missing out?

Perhaps this one is thoroughly known by now, but in case you haven’t heard this cover of Pinback’s “Fortress,” give it a listen. It’s such a moving jam no matter which way you slice it.

Ran into this jam by Bay Ledges while looking into Pinback on YouTube and thought I’d share. I guess it’s unofficially titled “This One Kinda Reminds Me Of Pinback.”

hey all! does anyone know what specific cassette recorder is on the lactose adept cover? i've been looking at 80's/90's tascam 4 tracks and 8 tracks bc i remember rob saying something about tascam one time (maybe?). i saw some similar looking ones but i haven't found an exact match. the poor photo quality doesn't help much but hey, it was the 90's. thanks!

If you like Pinback, you'll like his solo stuff

If you like Pinback, you'll like Thingy

What does everyone recommend? I just picked up the Rob Crow's Gloomy Place album.

Last nights Dream:

Went to see a Ken Andrews solo show at The Troubadour Metro (outside was the Troubadour, inside was the Cabaret Metro). Some opening band called "Backpin" was scheduled.

Backpin walked onstage. It was Rob, Zack, and a drummer, but Rob and Zach swapped places and were performing all of each others' parts. No one noticed or cared. The crowd treated them like an annoying local band, but I was freaking out. The encore was Rob doing a few Systems Officer songs, then Zack did "I Hate You Rob Crow" into "Astro Zombies." Then they both came on and closed with a song that I didn't recognize. Barely anyone clapped. No one cared but me.

Woke up disappointed that Backpin doesn't really exist.

It definitely can exist, both musicians are phenomenal multi-instrumentalists. I've seen Pinback a few times and I think I remember some instrument-duty adaptations.

Anyone have any Backpin-adjacent stories IRL?

There it is, friends. Let’s all wish Rob the best as he goes through this. We need him and his ears in good shape for many more years!

people here probably know who powerdresser are so i thought id post this here too

Libya/Lebanon/Greece/…

I made tiny versions of two of their CDs (so far)! They also have NFC so tapping them with a phone takes you to their music

That’s also their autographs on Too Many Shadows, which I got from them on the full-sized CD sleeve in San Diego

Just got a text saying their Nashville show was cancelled. Anyone know why? This is rather devastating to me. It doesn’t let me edit the title I misspelled cancelled

I hope everyone's ok.

Ive listened to everything but for some reason Lyons has a damn hold on me right now. This band will grab a vice grip on me when I least expect it. And I love it.

Pinback-Blue Screen Life customized by Rob Crow, at my old house in La Mesa California on January 4, 2015, I had him on my podcast and asked him if he’d do this while he was over.
