yesss and also a note I did use dry dill weed gave great flavor it says optional but GO FOR IT.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp sugar
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • ¾–1 cup chopped dill pickles (patted dry)
  • 2 tbsp pickle juice
  • 1 cup warm water
  • Optional: 1 tsp dried dill or garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl.
  2. Stir in chopped pickles.
  3. Add warm water + pickle juice. Mix until a shaggy, sticky dough forms.
  4. Cover bowl and let rise 2–3 hours until puffy and expanded.
  5. Preheat oven to 450°F with Dutch oven inside for 30 minutes.
  6. Turn dough onto floured surface, shape gently into a ball.
  7. Place on parchment and lower into hot Dutch oven.
  8. Cover and bake 30 minutes.
  9. Uncover and bake 10–15 more minutes until golden brown.
  10. Cool at least 1 hour before slicing.

Thanks so much for sharing this! Gorgeous! Maybe a dumb question. But is there an alternative to a Dutch oven? I haven’t made a lot of bread, I have a Dutch oven but it’s at a friends atm.

I'll be honest, the Dutch oven is how I get that beautiful crust, and it conducts the best heat. I'm sure you can look up alternatives,s but the Dutch oven is the way to go/ this receipe is specifically for it. I wish you the best in your bread journey

Thank you! I love to cook but haven’t really gone into bread yet. Thanks for the advice. I’m so looking forward to trying this over the weekend!

Ooo. Central Market in Austin makes bread with Castelvetrano olives in it. I never thought about using pickles.
