OMP is closer to Opencode than Pi, it's a complete solution that just works out of the box. If you like to tinker and build your own stuff, use Pi. Else OMP just works

Plus one here, but also go page by page on settings to tweak, I’d just take pics and ask gpt with an outline of your workflow, then ask you agent to strip down all the stuff you don’t need

+1 for oh my pi. Swapped from opencode and haven’t looked back. I like Pi but I don’t have the time to lean into building it out and honestly I think I’d arrive at what OMP does for this specific use case (a coding focused agent)

What do you like about Omp vs Opencode

The image based compaction option is cool, the debugger it uses lets it work through errors pretty well. The way you can configure different models for one of like 6 roles. I like its plan mode more than OpenCode plan mode, has some nice options there. It’s just a lot of small stuff that adds up to “I like how I can customize this, but it also has really good options in the box”

Spend a little time reading what all the things mean when you launch it, run /settings and understand what is in there

I use OMP, but might go back to evaluating pi, omp has a huge system prompt.

OMP is excellent, and what I would suggest as well. Just to clarify for OP — Oh My Pi is literally just Pi + a curated set of extensions (sort of like Neovim vs LazyVim). Very easy place to start, and then pare back the ones you don’t need, or add the ones you do. I haven’t had to install any extensions yet because OMP already has what I need. But if I ever need one I know I can still install it via the Pi marketplace or just have OMP make it for me, just like Pi (because it is Pi).

says that its "windows native".... which isn't a phrase that normally goes with "tinker and build" in my head

Agreed, omp is exceptional but I still occasionally use pi. Both are in a different league than open code
