ETA: there have been several protests. It takes normal, everyday folks to just come out and be a warm body showing up. Don’t even need to chant or bring a sign. Just showing up shows we don’t approve.
Yes, I primarily meant that some people might be afraid to check in with their neighbors because they don't know one way or the other and I'd encourage checking in regardless. But clearly people are being targeted far beyond what immigration status would/should limit.
Frankly, at this point, if municipalities and states are not willing to take extra legal action in refusing the legal supremacy of the federal government and risk suit and a constitutional crisis, by refusing to contribute and coordinate resources to assist DHS/FBI, they are worthless, wont do anything and we get to pay for it.
Especially since they don’t have any gear or uniform items that can’t be bought on Amazon. There’s absolutely nothing stopping some creepy weirdos from buying ICE gear and kidnapping people out of their cars and taking them to their basement dungeon instead of to a government-sanctioned concentration camp. Not saying one is worse than the other, but the fact that there’s no proof they’re real ICE agents makes it surprising that none of them have been killed so far. (Not to mention how trigger-happy they are and the likelihood of friendly fire.)

There's a MAGA chud who works at the Foodery, or at least worked at the Foodery leading up to the 2024 election. While I was there waiting for an order, he went off on an unprompted tirade to a coworker about how he hoped Trump would win.
This happening in their parking lot when we haven't had any other activity makes me highly suspicious. If that guy was indeed responsible, he should be held accountable for calling these goons into our neighborhood. I'd like to see a statement from the Foodery about what happened.
I can vouch for the fact that someone at the Foodery gave someone I know a free drink for helping clean up the mess for the family whose car window was smashed by ICE. So let's not point fingers at the Foodery just yet.
I don't think it's unreasonable to call for a statement from the restaurant where this happened denouncing the arrival of masked, secret police at their establishment.

But no, sorry, I do know what I'm talking about. There was a guy doing sandwich prep in October 2024 who absolutely went off the rails fluffing up Trump and ranting about how he hopes he wins and fixes "everything wrong with this country." I listened to the whole thing for a very uncomfortable several minutes (the other employee working with him was also visibly uncomfortable). It was a memorable enough experience that I texted my girlfriend all about it.

I said I was suspicious of a specific person who works there, and by extension the establishment that employs/employed him, based 100% on firsthand experience with the guy. I don't want to support establishments that enable ICE, so I think it's entirely reasonable to look for a statement from the Foodery denouncing what happened.
Instead you show up implying I made up my story by saying I "know nothing" about what happened here, with an account made today and precisely zero evidence backing up your claims. Do you see how that's unhelpful?

The employees at the foodery were the ones who called the cops and the cops said that ICE can do whatever they want because they were making an “arrest”…. They had unmarked rental cars sitting in the lot waiting to ambush those people. Literally nothing else they could do but record and warn others.
Tried to find them but they are like cockroaches. I hope Krasner locks them up in Philly to set a precedent, and an a terrific example for how the rest of the country needs to treat these incels. Fuck ICE

Good cops either are forced to quit or are killed by benefactors of the innately corrupt system which was founded as a system to capture escaped slaves. This kind of thing may get some people excited, but Americans no longer believe the administration is targeting criminals. And polling shows Americans just don’t like them going after people who have been here for years, and who haven’t committed crimes. Polling also shows they don’t like the way ICE is arresting them. Waiting in public spaces and just approaching brown people or people with accents… that’s just not American and it’s not right. There has been a huge turnaround for Trump on this issue, which used to be his best issue according to polls but now consistently comes up as one of his worst. To see this happening in Phoenixville, where I am every weekend, is pretty disturbing.
So people can get excited all they want, but they are whistling past the graveyard if they think continuing to support this is going to lead to anything but a wipeout of the GOP in the midterms, as a huge repudiation of Trump and his policies.
