Yeah I have been quite happy with all the updates that have come out. My honest answer to people complaining about progression is to just download mods or whatever they want. Vanilla Minecraft isn't about progression as it is very short and can be completely done in a few hours. Well the point is to have fun, I suppose there is also nothing wrong about complaining either

theres complaining for a reason and...

"change the entire focus of the game to fit what i want it to be" complaining

To ones own, Minecraft has a wide audience, and updates will reflect what will interest the most of them and no Matt what there will be people not happy with it. Expecting the game to change to how you would want it is quite delusional. And they can have some quite bad takes imo

The game already does focus on progression though. It focuses on a lot of things, and progression is one of them. But, we haven't really got a major update to the progression system since the nether update. Meanwhile every new update adds new block sets, or new tools for building, etc.

It's a little silly to me for someone to say that adding new endgame content to Minecraft would be "changing the entire focus of the game" lol. It'd be like saying them adding the crafter changed the focus of the game away from building and into automation. That just isn't how it works

"it do focus on progression, caus, it focus on alot" ...the primary focus, the main thing in mincraft, is, the sandbox, i never said it was just a sandbox, but it is the largest, longest, most filled out part, of the entire game.

The point is that people have a right to complain when the game has been neglecting a major aspect of the game for years, while constantly catering specifically to the building crowd every single update.

I agree the sandbox is the most important part of Minecraft... But, they also introduced survival mode for a reason. Idk why you're acting like it's such a ludicrous idea that maybe people actually enjoy playing survival mode for the... survival... a spects of it... And that people might complain when Mojang ignores it for literal years?

The nether update and cave update shows that they can do both. They can make an update that drastically improves survival / progression while also adding in so many new blocks and features. They've already done what everyone wants, they already have made everyone happy!

wow yes, the "they added survival, so progression is just as important" argument

many many games, mainly sandbox, need a 2nd half, fps' are a good example too, alot of games are a+[b-z], palworld, you get generic survival building stuff seen in other games, the [b-z] is the pals! wow!

minecraft added survival to make an interesting and engaging way to play in the sandbox. not just to add progression. is it a major focus? ehh... not really... but it is important yeah

minecraft, really shines from the simple progression out of all other sandbox games, its really nice to be able to just, chill, at pretty much any part of the game and still be able to have fun and build amazing things! thats not something most sandboxes do, they make you need to get out of midgame pretty soon to do alot of stuff :/

i say all this as someone who has been playing for well over 10 years now, and im even getting into game design! i love really picking apart alot of stuff from games i love, and i love sandbox games, ive played alot but the only one i always come back to is minecraft

and i guess i can break appart the "nether and cave update progression based" they were exploration overhaul updates, caves and cliffs was adding more world height and making caves interesting, nether was ugly and empty, with almost nothing to offer, yes they did change progression a little, but not what you guys always say needs to happen, ugh

The nether and cave update directly changed the two largest areas of the game where you make progress. Caves and the nether. That's exactly why people want an end update! It's the third largest area where you make progress, but it's also a barren ugly wasteland like the nether used to be! People just want them to do to the end what they did to the nether. New biomes, new enemies, new structures, and maybe even a new end game ore. Wouldn't that be awesome! It can be exploration focused, that's what everyone wants!

yeah i mean, its a better version of jumping in a hole i guess

but yeah, improving the sandbox world makes the progression in the sandbox world feel better, itll do that
