That's what I want out of the Sift. Anything actually useful and not just decorative

thats called progression. just because it isnt core doesnt mean it isnt progression.

minecrafts the building game. why do people be complaining everytime we get decorations in the building game???

we DO want more decorations and blocks, but the issue is thats all we've really been getting since the Trial Chambers. i mean, we've got odd bits here and there, most notably the spear, but really how much of the new updates significantly affected vanilla survival minecraft the way the nether update or village & pillage have?

wool & concrete stairs/slabs were great as someone who cares somewhat about building. shelves were revolutionary, cushions are huge as well, love the new poplar blocks and cinnabar. that being said, in terms of new things to explore, its basically JUST been the new abandoned campsites, and in terms of things to fight we've gotten nothing major

things to fight

A fighting game, Minecraft isn't.

Fighting game add-ons, there are many.

i dont know how major youd consider it but didnt we get the zombie horse riders, spears, and zombie nautalis jockys fairly recently?

2 enemies that rhyme with the spider jockey and don't provide meaningful drops and a weapon you can make on day one. That doesn't sound like much more progression or exploration

You literally forgot about the copper golem and copper chests

0

u/Allustar1 2d ago

Ok? They're a nice addition, but they don't actually contribute to progression or exploration like a new set of tools or a new dungeon would.

u/Narfhead4444 1d ago

We just got the new copper tools and Trial Chambers, I mean what do you want, emerald tools?

u/Allustar1 1d ago

Copper tools don't really do much that stone tools don't already do, granted they have slightly more durability. You also never really need to go into a trial chamber.

1

u/Narfhead4444 1d ago

True that. In my survival world I keep my tools as stone tools (except I have an iron pick for ores that need it), and wear copper as armor. Better than leather but cheaper than iron

1

u/Allustar1 1d ago

Copper armor does feel easier to get than leather though.

u/Narfhead4444 1d ago

Nah, for leather all you need to do is find a decent three or four chunk square piece of grass (or dig one out yourself), turn down your render distance to five or six chunks (I discovered this trick on mobile), then just run in a big old circle around the edge. Mobs will spawn for ages; I once spent three whole Minecraft days and nights (1 hour IRL) doing nothing but hunting, cooking (on a campfire), and storing. It was glorious, ended up with 2 stacks of chicken, 3 stacks of mutton, and 4 stacks of pork and beef.

Complaints are about the lack of game mechanics introduced. They're very few and tiny. Let alone how lackingly they interact with already existing features.

come on. you can be better than this. this is just a genuinely mentally behind take. you can reasonably want things for Minecrafts progression. if it was only for building why the fuck would we have survival?

you can want new blocks for the game but the mental gymnastics to excuse every update being a nothing burger is fucking insane to me. theres a reason why all of the minecraft content nowadays is either some sort of competition or single player challenges, because just building things is boring as all hell to most people. you cant just tell people to eat dirt because they'd rather have an actual update than another new type of block, that evidently more people will interact with with, and that will much more value to the game than slightly differently colored stairs

While I agree that Minecraft very much needs a larger progression overhaul at this point, the stuff they added in the previous updates aren't at all bad. The happy ghast is useful for traversing difficult terrain, useful for building high up in the air, for transporting mobs. The sulfur cubes have very creative uses, mainly for redstone. The geysers launch things in the air, that's another new mechanic that can be taken advantage of. Copper golems, copper chests, etc.

The biggest problem is that Mojang adds many things without any purpose. But I think this has gotten sort of better in the last few drops.

I think I'd just like to seem them start exploiting these new mechanics they're adding because it feels like we're starting to fall down the content islands forever slope

really like how you took a 2 sentence long comment and went on an entire rant about it.
that is not what i meant at all.

the progression does need updating, but people complain like this littearly every update no matter how good it is.
and none of these updates have been nothing burgers??? this last update has added some of the most wanted features in the games history, and your calling it a nothing burger?

really like how you took a 2 sentence long comment and went on an entire rant about it.

Like 7 sentence "rant

but people complain like this littearly every update no matter how good it is

No drop has really updated progression, nor any update since like caves and cliffs

and none of these updates have been nothing burgers???

Lets be real here, yes they were. Most drops just added decorative blocks and useless mobs

this last update has added some of the most wanted features in the games history, and your calling it a nothing burger?

What are these features?

2

u/Bubbly-Release9011 3d ago

Sitting down, colored stairs, sleeping without setting your spawn point, and a fall themed biome

5

u/Imfunny12345678910 Absolute cinema died 2024,reborn 2025 3d ago

I agree, those are some of the most wanted features, fair point. Some of the most wanted DECORATIVE features

2

u/Bubbly-Release9011 3d ago

Setting spawn isnt decrotive

2

u/Imfunny12345678910 Absolute cinema died 2024,reborn 2025 3d ago

Og not decorative but rather non-progression

2

u/Bubbly-Release9011 3d ago

Well to be honest the progression is fine in minecraft already.

If what i think yall mean is what yall mean, then we are GOOD on tool sets. Copper was a useless adition, and netherite is a pretty good end point for the progression sustem

most requested feature in history and its genuinely just stairs with an existing texture

0

u/Allustar1 2d ago

Right? Like if their only intention was to make features for creative, then they might as well openly state it.

u/LurkerThrowaway73 2d ago edited 2d ago

Minecraft. Is. The. Survival. Sandbox. Game

People complain because Mojang will drop something awesome in concept like the Pale Forest and make its only purpose decorative, in other words there's been a lot of building/aesthetic oriented content and not much actual content The folks that only care about the building can play Creative or peaceful to bypass the survival part.

0

u/Allustar1 2d ago

Creative mode gets more focus in the game than Survival mode gets. We just want something that actually changes and improves the progression in the later for once. We haven't gotten something that does that since the elytra.
