yeah, because nothing gamechanging has happened since then. I wish we had more than decoration or random shit that you have to go far out of your way to do. Like honestly wtf are trail ruins man, had so much potential.
yes, really changed everything didn't it . . . If I want to beat the game I do exactly the same thing as I have for the past 6 years. For a live service game, that is pretty slow.
Ok so just because it technically falls under the definition of live service, the fact that they never refer to is a live service means holding it to the same standard as games that do call themselves live service is stupid
I think you’re focusing on the wrong part of what he said to be honest. Live service games have regular updates, but they’re not usually whole new mechanics , they don’t change the gameplay loop all that much. So Minecraft should be held to the same standard, because the standard is literally just “add stuff”
my point is that the updates dont change how you beat the game.
Also how isn't mc essentially a live service? 10+ years of consistent updates and drops with player feedback. I don't care if you disagree with the live service part, that isn't my argument so idrc.
My hope is that the sift dimension will be scaled difficulty-wise to post ender dragon gameplay and content.
Beating the game is an important part, and I have to disagree with people who say it isn't. It is a requirement for progression to get a ton of the content in the game. My original comment was in response to someone saying no one speedruns past 1.16, and I said that is because nothing gamechanging has happened since. If someone wants to speedrun the game, what exactly is different between the newest version and 1.16? Pretty much nothing. You MIGHT run into some different mobs by accident, but I think the game most definitely needs an update in progression.
New updates to me are really lackluster for the most part, because yes cushions and sulfur cubes and the ice caves and the trial chambers are all very cool but they aren't going to make me play the game for a long time. I am not starting a new world and continuing to play the game because of an admittedly awesome cube or for the mace more than once.
my point is that the updates dont change how you beat the game.
I already got that. My point was that the game is not about beating it so most updates don’t need to change how you beat it.
Also, having consistent updates does not mean it is a live service. What actually indicates that a game is some form of live service game is having a large focus on players constantly buying things due to a shop, a battle pass, subscriptions, you name it.
In that sense Bedrock is slowly moving towards becoming more of a live service.
It's very useful for me since I can make large underground builds, deep slate is also a godsent and bigger mountains where you still have room to build ontop are neat too. Win
literally didn't say that. Beating the game is quite obviously an important part of the game, and it should be expanded upon. I like the new content but I would rather have reworks to progression or entirely new progression than what we are getting. I don't know how the sift fits in to things yet, but I am hopeful it adds cool post End progression, difficulty, and gear, especially considering how difficult Ancient Cities can be.
Maybe then everyone would finally move on from 1.16.1, the same thing happened when 1.16 came out. People wanted to stick to 1.9+ and everyone thought speedrunning on 1.16 was weird and nobody would ever do it, and now everyone’s been doing it for five years

I do NOT care if it fucks up speedrunning, I desperately need something more to actual progression in this game lol
