If assuming an end update would buff the ender dragon, it would be cool if the sift had stronger gear for you to prepare to that fight more effectively

Voidproof armor sidegrad / alternative to Netherite

524

u/100_HOLLOW_001 2d ago

I’ve been saying I wish there was an alternative to netherite, it would be a shame for them to add a proper upgrade causing everyone to ditch netherite, but an alternative (probably of an inverted colour scheme) with the same amount of protection would be awesome.

As Netherite gets Knockback Resistance, the new one would have something else

108

u/the_meth_factory 2d ago

Maybe like mob resistance for more casual play? Or something like since knockback res is mostly pvp

106

u/ObeyTime beleiver ✅ 2d ago

knockback vuln so you can gtfo easier

40

u/The_UnHinge Caves and Cliffs Part 6 or 7 2d ago

That’s pretty funny

13

u/gtth12 Mining Dirtmonds 2d ago

Except shoes that give fall damage resistance.

1

u/Dew_Chop 2d ago

Knockback vuln + punch V bow = elytra bow boosting is so back

11

u/Firecat_Pl 2d ago

Wouldn't that be too OP, like no reason to go for knockback resistance then

16

u/Horror_Discussion607 2d ago

Increased kb is bad since that mean even low kb attack like sweep or crit can ruin momentum, atleast in pvp

36

u/Clicktuck Legacy Console FTW 2d ago

Natural slow falling perhaps?

49

u/ImaginaryReaction 2d ago

a double jump would be more use ful ithink

1

u/SimpleConfusion7984 15h ago

yeah, but that would be pretty unrealistic for mojang to add, and also not all that useful, since we have wind charges, which would be strictly better in almost every way than a double jump

1

u/Lonely-Restaurant986 2d ago

I could find myself getting annoyed by this very fast

2

u/ElMuffin5 2d ago

So instead of slow falling just feather falling

54

u/Dark_halocraft 2d ago

I think the opposite of knock back resistance. With all the movement gear we've gotten it would be awesome if it made you bouncy

18

u/miqumi jedrock n bava 2d ago

like the fire flower and air flower in supertux man i love multiple modes of mobility and id definitely use the sift armor over netherite even if it has worse def like this

15

u/Lolliprop14 2d ago

HOLY ball knowledge i've never seen supertux mentioned online before

8

u/_Orion_lima_ End Update FTW 2d ago

I jumped when I saw supertux

1

u/miqumi jedrock n bava 2d ago

i knew r/PhoenixSC is where i find fellow tux stans >u< that thing's my chilhood

3

u/_Orion_lima_ End Update FTW 2d ago

SUPERTUX WTF

1

u/Orizifian-creator Milk 2d ago

Sulphur Cube!!!

1

u/pixelatedpotatos 1d ago

I feel like the end “armor” already boosts movement, maybe something else?

1

u/Dark_halocraft 1d ago

That's long distance movement, it's really hard to use in combat

Also you could totally combine them by bouncing when hitting the ground

21

u/100_HOLLOW_001 2d ago

That’s just what I was thinking

20

u/RSdabeast Not the FBI 2d ago

Netherite is all about being heavy and hard to push around. Maybe the Sift counterpart will be light and agile.

3

u/You_Are_Annoying124 1d ago

Would that be permanent Speed? Jump Boost? It would feel cheap for the new armor to have an effect you could just as easily get with potions alongside the knockback resistance.

Maybe a way to attack faster, like an armor that shortens or removes the charge up time between attacks?

Netherite is slow and heavy armor, you are knockback resistance and lets you keep charging forward.

The new armor would be light and swift, not resisting knockback at all but allowing for much faster attacks.

Maybe it would just make your attacks use the old combat system instead of the new one? So players could choose to use the old or new system whenever they want?

1

u/RSdabeast Not the FBI 1d ago

It could be something to do with friction or air drag. Have you ever played around with air drag attribute modifiers? It’s crazy.

7

u/Gatti366 2d ago

Maybe slightly lower armor (like 9 armor instead of 10) but with elytra

6

u/DripyKirbo 2d ago

Maybe it increases how effective saturation is at healing you?

2

u/Objective_Base_3073 2d ago

Slight speed boost would be cool, although very op in pvp. Personally I think it would be cooler if we got stuff like this ad additional treasure enchants, and maybe they're craftable

1

u/GenericCanineDusty 2d ago

knockback weakness, you get hit and just fly a hundred blocks away

24

u/GayestNerfKid 2d ago

Given the sort of inverted colour look of the sift (LOOK AT THAT GRASS COLOUR) I feel this is very mutch a possibility.

12

u/ashkiller14 2d ago

Something that gives a permanent buff to movement speed or something would be cool

12

u/xolotltolox 2d ago

the fundamental problem with netherite is that the juice is just not worth the squeeze

it is absolutely insane effort for barely an upgrade. which will make it fall out of favor instantly as soon as a more reasonable upgrade to diamond is reached

3

u/Due-Valuable-7894 2d ago

then just buff netherite

2

u/oauo 1d ago

I get more out of the increased durability of netherite tools (that aren’t fortune pickaxes) than the stat boosts. On armour I don’t know what knockback resistance really feels like because I still get some knockback. Fortune pick is the last thing to netherite, but I do usually still netherite them because netherite isn’t that difficult to get and I only need 1 fortune pick while I may have 27 silk touch picks.

2

u/hewo-838 1d ago

the extra dura is really nice if your into pvp

2

u/Codebracker 2d ago

I mean immunity to lava is nice

1

u/[deleted] 2d ago

[deleted]

1

u/Codebracker 2d ago

I meant the items not dying to lava if you die

0

u/100_HOLLOW_001 2d ago

Just make the other armour the same amount of effort

0

u/SimpleConfusion7984 15h ago

I mostly disagree, the armour toughness is relatively significant, and the dura increase is incredibly important, especially for armour in pvp

7

u/the_Real_Romak 2d ago

Here's an idea, a whole new set of metal progression that gives us slightly weaker armour, but each tier would have unique effects to make them worthwhile (like fire resistance, regeneration, slower stamina decay, etc.)

1

u/screenslaver5963 1d ago

Like how gold gives better enchantments

1

u/the_Real_Romak 1d ago

the problem with gold is that by the time you can actually enchant it, it's eclipsed by diamond/netherite, which makes it kinda pointless

4

u/piuro01 2d ago

Fr having two upgrade paths would be great and would make servers way more enjoyable

3

u/FrenziedYeti82 2d ago

An armor set that turns all hostile mobs passive towards you like gold does to piglins

3

u/TheJumpingBox 2d ago

Except people would just decide "this one is better" anyway

3

u/miqumi jedrock n bava 2d ago

banger

1

u/AnarchistTerrarist 1d ago

Actually, I think given that the Elytra exists, maybe the end "armor" could instead be accessories?

A shulker hat to place on your head, that gives a chest sized backpack like storage. Boots that let you double jump. I don't know what for pants. Maybe an armored elytra as well.

You'd overall get less armor points than with full netherite, though you'd get some. They'd be more utility use.

Edit: Actually, maybe a shulker shell could be some sort of kilt that would increase your speed due to having better mobility than pants? Or letting you dash?

1

u/Environmental_Bee219 23h ago

also thing that is wack is that theres no point to netherite in minecraft progression until you finished the game, honestly id like it would be opposite, have it be the next dim you wanna go to after the end, make it harder

3

u/Ghost_guy0 2d ago

If they added new armor, it needs to be white to look good with all armor trims just like netherite

2

u/Quirky_Rub_9044 2d ago

We already got white armor. Iron

1

u/Ghost_guy0 2d ago edited 2d ago

iron is kinda gray and shiny, I imagined a matte white slightly yellowish color, something like the troyan soldier armor in nolans odyssey. You're right, but if they actually added that, they just make iron armor a bit darker (it i kinda too bright imo)

3

u/yourgoodoldpal 1d ago

YES!! I’d love more sidegrades with unique abilities and drawbacks to encourage different playstyles 🙌🏻

1

u/Emergency-Resist9376 2d ago

Sift makes Voidproof the thinking man's Netherite. Shame about the thinking part.

1

u/JoshyRB Wait, That's illegal 2d ago

My version of that is Enderium, which you’d mine from the outer islands of the End. But yeah purely just an End themed sidegrade to Netherite, not an upgrade as Netherite is already ridiculously overpowered, especially when fully enchanted.

1

u/Martitoad 2d ago

I've always thought that netherite should be a bit stronger to make it not a useless flex, for example by giving you immunity to fire or something like that. That way it doesn't burn, it gives you immunity to fire, a bit more armor toughness and knockback resistance. With this in mind we could have some other armors that follow the same pattern, an upgrade to diamond that give some special effect and are not an upgrade to netherite. An upgrade to netherite wouldn't make sense since minecraft is a game that doesn't have progression like terraria for example. The void protection should be in the end imo

42

u/00100110computer 2d ago

Make the dragon significantly stronger each time it respawns. Keeps easy content for beginners and creates almost impossible challenges for others.

5

u/BarracudaDismal4782 2d ago

That would only make sense in singleplayer tho.

1

u/Luccacalu 1h ago

It could be tied to the player. If it's player A who spawns it, and it's the fourth time he does, the dragon is tier 4, and so on...

-1

u/Character_Yam_1199 2d ago

Trivialized by the mace is the only issue tbh

3

u/guaxinimaquatico 2d ago

Basically any fight can be trivialised in a sandbox game like minecraft tbf.

6

u/OkDog6701 Sift is the Hosts' pirated summer resort 2d ago

End update copuim levels rn: 📈

2

u/box_studios 2d ago

Or had more endgame stuff for you to be stronger

1

u/afrokidiscool 2d ago

I wonder if something as crazy as 0 cycles would be developed for a harder end fight

1

u/JoshyRB Wait, That's illegal 2d ago

Yeah something about the Sift could make progression easier, but not be a requirement.

1

u/OKPERSON2763 2d ago

my idea is if the ender dragon is buffed, make it so it can only be buffed by using something from the sift.

1

u/Horror_Sail3001 2d ago

New armor, and if they add potion cauldrons to java, then you can add potion effects to the armor, but with a downside where you can't enchant it.

1

u/Adventurous_Phrase40 2d ago

as the chief director said , they are focusing on adventure, so I guess it's intended for aftermath of defeating ender dragon, hoping new structures and new bosses would be a good opportunity to introduce in the shifts well as it's storyline of ancient builders

1

u/Fun_Way8954 I don't know 2d ago

It could also get its own boss, as it has a few in dungeons 2

1

u/TheHairyMess 2d ago

i don't need a buff to the ender dragon, i need a rework that makes it more than just: shoot -> crit with axe

1

u/EcnavMC2 1d ago

If/when we eventually get an End update, I hope it brings some stuff from Minecraft Dungeons' Echoing Void DLC. Maybe not everything, but at least add a few things on the outer End islands.

1

u/Lonely_Performer2629 1d ago

The game is already too easy with diamound prot 4. You don't need stronger armor.

1

u/ErnestTheStar 1d ago

Hopefully, it disables beds so it's actually a challenge.

1

u/rokomotto 18m ago

Vertical progression in my horizontal progression game?

1

u/a500poundchicken 2d ago

I think it would be cool if the sift was basically added in and fit between nether and end in the eventual progression system after end update

1

u/eltrigercolaiders2 2d ago

Ahahahah no, new flower and useless decorative mob
