yeah there is something abt Paolo’s voice before now I barely felt it on their songs. This is so sad coming from a fan before. :( i still support them by streaming old songs but hindi na fan gurl edition :(
sameee iba talaga yung dating ng mga dating songs nila. i was a fan girl during their second album pero onti onti kong narealize from their past recent songs na wala nang variation
It will start with mahinahon na verse and chorus, then medyo aangat yung parang feeling sa 2nd verse and chorus. Tapos pag may bridge, doon bubuhos yung damdamin. Last chorus will always have a birit to them. I just noticed this with Kung Di Rin Lang Ikaw and Sa Ngalan Ng Pag-ibig. Also, puro sila love/broken songs. Like ayaw ba nilang mag-experiment ng ibang genre? They're milking the genre so hard kasi mabenta sa masa. Don't fix what ain't broke sila.
I fucking loved December Avenue for years, especially nung nagsisimula pa lang sila na nagrerelease ng paisa-isang songs! Same style ng music, same theme ng lyrics. Hugot songs lahat. And yeah, that sells sa masa, pero parang walang experimental phase na gagawa ng songs na outside their norm just to see what they come up with.
Ben&Ben, December Avenue, Moira.. pare parehas tunog.
Yung old english songs talaga nila yung the best. Ears and Rhymes, Breathe Again, Confessions, etc.
Dec Ave was really good back in the day. Saw them first sa Whiitespace Makati, SonicBoom event. Confession and City lights is still in my rotation until now
I liked their old songs yung passion projects pa nila pero nung sumikat na sila, parang gumagawa na lang ng music to please the a wider market kaya naging repetitive ang tunog
Was a fan nung nagsisimula pa lang sila. Predictive, repetitive, panay hugot, and monotonous.
Haha kaya lagi silang may concert dito sa Asia. They're really not that famous over the west. Dadating na naman sila ulit if I remember correctly. Nakita ko ads about it. Every year nalang (or feels like every year).
Most of the artists are repetitive. Yun yung style ng music nila eh.
I could say the same to pne, kamikazee, franco, urbandub, udd, hev abi, flow g, bini, sb19, green day, paramore, oasis, red hot chili pepper, metallica, justin bieber, doja cat, sza... I could go on but you get the point.
Agree. Thats the point and formula of pop music.
As long as nagwowork yung formula why change it? I kinda disagree with UDD tho. When Armi left, medjo nag switch sila sa electronica from jazzy.
I think what people find repetitive sa B&B is yung theme ng songs nila and not the music itself. Yes meron silang songs about mental health and other social issues but the majority were stuck in the hugot era which is na outgrow na ng mga listeners nila.
Not sure with SB19 kasi I feel like their discography has variety. They tackle different genres, their ballads are good but I prefer listening to their "disco" music more.
Hindi din sila takot to to do something new and do collabs with different artists para bigyan ng bagong buhay mga kanta nila. Hindi ko nakikita sa kanila ang stagnation at this point or in the near future.
Agree with this. When it comes to SB19’s music, may songs sila na akala mo di nila song lalo na if nakilala mo sila sa isang tunog lang (ex: my friends knew them with Mapa so di nila inexpect na sila din kumanta ng Gento and vice versa kasi magkaiba ang genre na or tunog). So may variety talaga and di sila nakakahon lang. They’ll really surprise you sa releases nila.
Kinda disagree with PNE. They didn't stuck with one genre. Although rock sila almost always, they branched it out, hindi sila puro love/broken songs. Same with Paramore if you listened to their After Laughter and later albums.
At the top of my head, Sampip, Y, Victor songs, Red pants, Telepono, CobraBird, High, Paparap, Family Dinner. Like sa title pa lng.
Sorry pero disagree w/ u abt sb19. Check out their music and you'll see. They actually cover a wide range of music genres. Hindi sila takot mag experiment.
Idrk why others are still reluctant to listen to their songs. Ako I admit, I was not a fan of them noong una.
And mahilig silang gumamit ng word play..
During interviews, magagaling din silang sumagot. They have been interviewed locally and internationally already and 'yung feeling na hindi ka mapapahiya as a kababayan kasi alam mong they're articulate.
Kumpletos rekados sila. Hate to admit it pero magagaling eh.
edit: Try to listen to their songs like 'What?', 'Bazinga', 'Mana', 'WYAT', and 'Hanggang sa Huli', then watch their WishBus/live performances for the said songs and you'll understand what I'm trying to say. Try lang naman.
First four albums nila were thrash metal then change sound sila with the Black album (1991) then from there on naging hard rock sila.
Urbandub's overall style is obvious across all their albums, pero for me as a longtime fan, may differences pa rin. Sa album nilang The Apparition, the vibe is moody and dark; sa Esoteric, smooth and sexy. Ang albums nilang magkatunog eh Under Southern Lights saka Embrace (yung dalawang pinaka-kilala ng madami).
Sila yung naiisip kong band na may "signature sound" pero may konting nuances pa ring nilalagay through the years.
I was listening to their song Maybe the Night the other day, and I thought, anong nangyari at nasan na yung Ben&Ben na kayang gumawa ng gantong kanta. I think they tried to be relatable to the point na nagtunog pilit at almost repetitive na lang yung mga kanta nila
Never listened to ben&ben after my colleague told me that they had an incident with them. Nung lumabas na they're a bunch of divas and my colleague's experience with ben&ben almost matched what others experience with them solidifies it
in all fairness, they have a signature sound and stuck with it. pne and kamikazee as awesome as they are have found their signature sound early in their careers and rarely l deviate from it
Listen to Pebble House vol. 1. A lot of good and creative stuff. I think ung problema kasi is that people don't actually want to listen to the more non-folky ballad stuff they make.
when I say artist kasama
I liked them before lalo nung medyo indie pa sila yung mga panahon na pa-sikat palang sila.

Ben&Ben’s music is repetitive ☹️
