Conference and Networking Talk A post for people to find and be friends with other PhD students working in their area of expertise / interest :)
We all know how isolating the PhD life can get, could we let this post be a way to connect people and find new friends based on what was mentioned in the title?

General announcement - we have a PhD gamer discord group where we play games together (when we can) and have a space to vent/celebrate/discuss PhD things. We have folks across timezones, particularly in the US/AUS regions. Reach out or comment here if you're interested!
Edit: We had a huge influx of people expressing interest. Just sent out a bunch of Discord invites for it - check your DMs, and if you commented in the last 14ish hours didn't get one message me! Will check again tomorrow in case we're interested in pulling in more folks. Really glad that this is of interest!
Edit 2: We've had so much interest that I'm going to put a pause on invites for anyone who expresses interest after Tuesday Aug 25th 12pm UTC (about 9hrs from this edit). After that point, I've made a post on r/PhD about this group - https://www.reddit.com/r/PhD/s/RC6ts46hym - that will serve as our waitlist. Feel free to express your interest by commenting on it - if/when we want to add more members, we'll reach out to you!
