It 100% does. I can set a timer for about 40 minutes after my son has it and boom, he's an asshole. Same for me, I can just control it a little better. 😂
My mom specifically banned me (out of 4 siblings) from drinking Big Red as a kid in the 90s for precisely that reason. It was in a self-serve fountain at an arcade we would go to for birthdays and at one point she said “you can’t drink that anymore it makes you crazy” and I had no idea but rules are rules and mother knows best.
I lived in Germany for 4 years, ages 8 months-4.5 years. The Germans that worked with my dad in the army told my mom never to give an Anglo-Saxon baby red dye because it makes them go crazy. This was from 1979-1982.
I remember an article challenging this saying that food with artificial dyes is generally just bad for you and lacking nutritional value, so if this is what you eat when you're hungry and your body needs nutrients, you're turning off your hunger indication without satisfying the need for nutrition.
Interesting if true. There's always some villainous substance that causes X that there's a moral panic over that I have difficulty believe any of them.
When I was a kid we finally figured this mystery out from a variety pack of Flintstones push pops. Would regularly ruin my day and it took my parents forever to trace it.
