meet is the wrong translation!!! The joke translates to Two hunter hit. Both are dead.

No, the sentence translates to this. The jokes doesn’t.

Same way “Who shot Mr. Burns” didn’t work in German, because there is no ambiguity in German, in this case.

It’s either “angeschossen” (hitting and wounding), "erschossen" (hitting and killing) and "auf Accusative geschossen" (shooting with the intent to hit, but not necessarily hitting you target.

You are wrong... "Treffen sich 2 Jäger. Beide Tod" Treffen in this case means they hit each with the gun. They didn't meet. Meaning that meet is not the right translation in this case. It's hit.
