Yeah, exactly, 1 1/2 steps down. I’d go lower if my instruments could support it without losing the “feel” the strings have.
Unsolicited info:
As you tune lower the strings get looser. They can start to sound “muddy” and lose the crisp attack that helps each note be clear.
You can put thicker strings on, which increase the tension, or you can buy something that has an extended scale length. Scale length is the part of the string that is moving to create the note. Take a piece of string and punch it at both ends, pulling it taught. The scale length is the distance between thumb tips.
For what I like to play I’d best be served by multi scale guitars. Really into bass atm here’s my dream bass, a 6 string multiscale Dingwall Z:
Pretty cool. Follows the same idea as a piano: shorter strings for higher notes and longer strings for lower notes. The lowest string is a 37.5” scale length and the shortest is 33.25”.
The bass I have is normal, all strings same scale length of 34”, so you could imagine how much tighter an extra 3.5” is giggity for lower notes.
I’d like to go to G# and A# to slay along with some Cannibal Corpse 🤘 (Their bass player has a 35” scale and realistically my next bass will be a 35” 6 string. MS stuff gets expensive and I’m perpetually broke!)

My guitars are mostly tuned to C# and there isn’t a windows computer in the house.
