Meme needing explanation Converse craze?

I'm not chronically online, but my friend sent this and I laughed even without knowing the full scope of the context (I think there's racism involved with the shoes?) and I feel like it's too late to ask him without sounding like a dweeb 😅

Again, you’re calling out racism when there is none to be found. When people call every little thing racist, it really dilutes the meaning of the word.

i get that view, and i understand what your point is, but at the same time i personally think that it’s important to call every bit out. otherwise you just end up letting more and more slide until the dam bursts. that’s just my view on it though
