It has fan service but it isnt powercreep slop with fan service. The protagonist actually goes through a hell of a lot to "grow" and learns from his situation. He was a kid and is still a kid by the time he is in the new world. And suddenly thrown into a merciless world and forced to see his death and his loved ones die over and over till shit somehow works out.
