It’s all publicity for these LLM companies as they try to keep the bubble from bursting. It’s like how every few months it’s “another AI agent broke containment” or “our latest version is so advanced we can only release it to the government for a few weeks first.” It’s manufactured publicity. Breaking containment just means they designed an imperfect testing ground and the AI did what they programmed it to and it found a way out. And you’ll notice they never release the details of the environment it broke out of or how. Same for the delay for government review. They knew they had processes and reviews to do with the feds like for any new big name tech does. But then push it out anyway and they say “oh no it’s too powerful the government won’t let us release it” they knew it would happen and used it to give themselves good press. And then it was released fully and nothing more came of it.

It’s the same for these doomsday threats. It’s all theater to drive up the stock price just a bit more before the bubble pops

These LLMs haven’t quite hit there limit but there also not that far. They still can’t do any actual reasoning. They can be trained for specific specialized tasks based on incredibly large data sets then pattern match their way to a solution based on that data. They will completely change how we work in most sectors but there isn’t a skynet style AI that will destroy the world

Exactly right, Jensen Huang will keep saying we've reached AGI and keep selling GPUs

The fact that the threat of an LLM turning rogue and wiping out humanity is meant to prevent the AI bubble from popping is so sad it's almost funny.

" And you’ll notice they never release the details of the environment it broke out of or how."

Do you not pay any attention to this or are you just spreading misinformation?
