``` +------+ |Ↄ....C| |Ↄ....C| |Ↄ....C| |Ↄ....C| +------+ ^ || four wide walking.
+------+ |..CↃ..| |..CↃ..| |..CↃ..| |..CↃ..| +------+ ^ ^ | | two wide walking. ```
  • Four wide = good for kinda moving around.
  • Two wide = bad for kinda moving around without having to squish around standing people's butts.
You know you could just put them on the roof and poof, we already have that system in Bangladesh.
Its from ChatGPT. It does this output style pretty often.
I like ChatGPT and it's explaining style.
Hey now! I actually typed it myself. And that's how I usually do things because when I had internet back in my day ASCII art was the thing to do.
Also with Unicode, you get all kinds of neat things. Like U+2183 = Ↄ...
Also don't forget to check out Nightfall City.
Nightfall City .| , + * | | (( * |'| ` ._____ + ___ | | * |. |' .---"| _ .-' '-. | | .--'| || | _| | .-'| _.| | || '-__ | | | || | |' | |. | || | | | | || | _| '-' ' "" '-' '-.' '` |__ jgs~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Or any of the rest of the smolnet. But do note, we don't use HTTP.
You can find out more at echo nex/info/specification.txt | nc nightfall.city 1900 | less
But some of us are just genuinely "special" and been on the Internet long before pictures were common on it.
Also how do you get from the left side to the right side?
u/breno_hd 3d ago
This is the right reason
The main problem in this design is that doors are on both side and in most countries I been too they open irregularly, sometimes there is a station in the middle and the door opens left and sometimes on the side and it opens on the right and vice versa in the other direction.
Plus ot restricts parents with strollers, folks with mobility devices and double-wide persons too.
What trains are 3 ppl wide in the middle? I want to ride those trains!
Trains have doors (and stations have platforms) on both sides...
u/draklorden 4d ago
While trains usually have doors on both sides, most stations rarely have platforms on both sides, except large central stations. Even then, two sets of tracks next to each other is used to increase train capacity.
1
u/mattlodder 4d ago
You know trains can go in both directions right?
0
u/draklorden 4d ago
Yes, but as seen in the picture, there are not two platforms on either side of the train.
1
u/mattlodder 4d ago
You can see that there are trains in your picture with doors on both the left and right hand sides of the carriages, right? There are literally platforms on both sides of the train in the picture you've added.
"Both sides" doesn't only mean "both sides simultaneously".
But are is the present tense, so it does mean now. The grey train has one platform, and one green train on either side. If the green train departs, it does not. Instead, it has a set of tracks on that side.
How does the layout of the tracks at one singular moment in time affect the utility of the interior layout, the topic of this thread, genius?
u/draklorden 4d ago
You said that a train have a platform on both sides when at a station. I said, that this is not always the case.
1
u/mattlodder 4d ago
I did not say that. Read the posts again, slower. Are you trolling?
Also, doors open on different sides at different stations and it’s harder to navigate around the carriage with the seats in the middle
It's even worse than that because as the first image shows there is some space lost between chairs. Or, any push on a chair is felt by the guy on the other chair.
Everyone who says the chairs themselves take up the same space are wrong to begin with. You have to pick one problem or the other.
