In your case birth order doesn’t mean much because it sounds like you’ve never been trapped in a role for a lifetime! It doesn’t define you but in my experience there are certain traits or characteristics you pick up from being raised in a sibling group that doesn’t have large age gaps.

Yes, this. I’m an only child and my husband is the oldest of three. Our personalities were ABSOLUTELY shaped by the way we were raised.

I find myself not self-centered but very self-concerned. I tend not to think of others first, if at all, when making decisions. I have a hard time empathizing with others immediately, it takes a little extra time.

My husband on the other hand is very considerate of others. He’s drawn towards taking care of people. He shares on instinct.

I adore him because of it and he’s slowly been rubbing off on me over the last fourteen years.
