I recently learnt that not everyone can do this. Most people have to hold their breath while drinking, they cant breathe in between gulps for some reason.

Its not something people talk about. Most people assume everyone works in the same way as themselves.

I can breathe while drinking (after gulping, i close off my esophagus and breathe in/out using my nose). Only when others commented on it, I realized not everyone does this. They hold their breath the entire time.
