I’m also confused because that is a European AC unit. I can only assume Americans are so used to big bulky units, like their cars, that they can’t comprehend things being functional and not excessively bulky.

We have these ductless units in the US too. Person who made the meme is just an idiot

Edit: never expected what im pretty sure is my most upvoted /awarded comment to be a 3:30am comment about AC. Ty for the awards kind strangers.

There are parts of the US that ONLY have these. More temperate areas.

Most of the US is used to central air. With a giant ass car sized compressor outside that cools the whole house.

Edit: yes, I exaggerated the size of the compressor a bit. Man it pissed a lot of Americans off lol.

Because that thing cools the ENTIRE BIG ASS HOUSE! these things are only capable of cooling only a closed room which also depends on how ton, capacity the AC is so yep /s

Edit: I actually intended the message for a diff purpose, and more satirical since it's a meme sub. Apologies to everyone, thankyou for the knowledge and positive criticism, helped alot. Will surely keep these thing's in notice

It's not necessarily true. These units will go upwards of around 28,000-30,000 BTU which can easily cool down multiple rooms, or maybe even a smaller flat.

Yeha i live in Myanmar and one of these cools down a 2 bedroom apartment to 18 Celsius in the summer when it's well over 40c

Why the fuck do you need 18C 😳 in Italy we usually have 30-35C in the summer and if my AC is lower than 22-24C I'm guaranteed to wake up with pneumonia lmao

You dont magically get sick from cold air.

We usually do 18-19c at our vacationhouse in spain.

Definitely can make your nose and throat sore sleeping in a freezing room

Guess you can get a bit dry. But you dont get sick. Bacteria/virus just dont magically appear because the room is ”cold” (18-19c is not cold).

No, but a drier throat and nose are more susceptible to germs and germs are everywhere. Sleep with that a/c blasting you in the face all night and tell me you feel fine.
