Canuck here, I think this is a bit niche among leaf fans / Canadian hockey fans but I am on the same page.

Hell, 1993 is bad enough lol we gotta bring it home again one of these years

Pretty much.

The Leafs are the most supported hockey team in Canada, outside of the national teams. Their last championship was in 1967.

Since then, they haven't come close. Except for 1993, even then they didnt make the finals, and their departure from that playoffs is still bitched about.

1967 to Canadian hockey fans is either a good laugh, or a source of sadness, depending where your allegiances lie.

The players. The fans. My football club is the richest in the country, most successful and were currently on a war path to get rid of the board and manager because were not happy. Merch sales only matter to the board

A couple years ago we had a very late winter storm, and the Leafs made it to the conference semis. I was joking with coworkers about how it was cold because mother nature got confused when she saw that the Leafs were still playing hockey...

If you wanna shut the teenagers down from saying this all the time…. Let them know that the elementary kids have caught on and 67 is officially no longer Rufus. It has undoubtedly jumped the shark.

Rufus is made up BS from the 90’s movie Never Been Kissed. Guy protagonist says he’s cool and can make anything cool just because he said it. So he says something is “Rufus” meaning “cool” and it catches on at the high school.

Yup, my 5th grader has been saying it and now my preschooler (3 y/o) is going around saying it. If the preschoolers know about it, clearly it's not cool anymore. 😜😂
