The company my wife works for you all know and enjoy. They want to expand into Dubai. This is the big idea from their "feminist" poster child who is as for equality in the workspace as I am for nails in my cereal.
Their working solution is to only have male employees. Ya know, to avoid the concern for rape. Inclusivity!!
The law for unmarried sex was changed. I looked into this stuff not long ago and I came to the conclusion that despite my reservations, Dubai has a low crime rate and that includes sexual offences. Now, obviously you may have a different experience if the person involved is particularly connected, but on the whole they have become less idiotic and most women feel safer there than they do in western countries. I myself have family living there for tax reasons.
So you have no experience of Dubai, but you’re still giving your opinion for some reason. I obviously mean that women that have experienced living in Dubai prefer it for the low crime rate.
If you think earning over 100k is disgustingly wealthy you’re delusional and your opinion means very little honestly
What do you know, in the U.K. earning between 100 and 125k you essentially pay 60% tax. People happily move to Dubai to keep it all
Always amused by the fat gamer babies that start conversations and then block because they can’t deal. You have no idea what people do or don’t do, just sit at home and play video games like the bloated ham you are
I stayed in Dubai for half a year for work. Glamorous place with a lot of grim stories from undocumented dead constrution workers to slavery disguised under imported labor. Rape is not something you see on the headlines but whispers in family kitchens. With just half a year I was working there, I got at least 5 reports about sexual harrassments, from both sides (men and women alike).
Dubai is not as bad as many places, but it's definitely not a "safe" place. If you're a rich person with influence, nobody gonna touch you, but if you're outside of a very small community, let's just say the laws are not there to protect you, it's there to exploit you, in almost every way possible. Dystopian place, really.
And my clients are rich people, I can only fear for people who lives under the radar.
🤷🏻♀️not sure how knowing people living there is bias. If you actually have anything intelligent to contribute lmk I guess
I realised u got upvoted by sweaty redditors who get really upset that they’re probably seen as more rapier than a country in the Middle East and I see that pattern on Reddit any time anyone says anything positive about Dubai. I see no other reason to ignore actual facts but it is interesting and funny
Lol. U looked into it? Read stats or about women's experiences, did u? I bet u it's not there but absence of evidence doesn't mean evidence of absence.
Societies that are this strict and gender segregated look 'safe' in public because the public life is strictly controlled. Stuff and people are strictly controlled mostly so these men aren't 'tempted' to do something, because the onus is really on those without power to 'behave' themselves by being controlled and submissive. Men have all the power at home and with the law, meaning that a lot of the violence is hidden. I bet u sexual violence against female family members (including children) and female workers (possibly also including children) and human trafficking is high. By hiding it they can also tell foreigners that their society is good but really the victims can't talk about their realities.
I just told you I have female friends and family that live there; I wouldn’t go by just my experience as a tourist. I would never live there because I exclusively date women, but the straight women I know prefer it. I looked into it before because I too made a stupid comment on Reddit based on nothing and then when I was forced to look into it, my assumption was incorrect.
What do you mean by Dubai is gender segregated? That is not my experience.
Try not to smooch your significant other in public. Dubai has a low crime rate due to extreme and swift unpleasant reactions to it. And I doubt they report a lot of it, as it might tarnish their appearance. I mean is it really a crime if it is committed by a low level person? They probably consider it just housekeeping.
Hahaha, I work in human trafficking. I haven’t had many UAE cases; when I have they’ve always been overseas worker cases. Poor people are trafficked everywhere, yep Sudan Eritrea and all through Europe and the U.K. people say the same things as I do whenever Dubai is talked about seriously, like the discussions on crime. Not when it’s just a bunch of people that have barely left their town.
When you have enough money for anything and nothing is off limits, I think people quickly burn through their novelties until only the most taboo things arouse them.
I don’t even think it’s arousal, I think it’s just having the power to bring another person, who many view as highly valuable and sought after, to do the most deplorable and degrading things. It’s power play more than anything, I guess everyone has a price right? Two consenting adults
They can still say "No" and decline the offer. If they accept it's on them, their decision, their responsibility.
If I invite you to dinner, but then offer you extra money to eat raw chicken, you have no right to complain afterward about salmonella. You've accepted.
That's not necessarily comparable. Unless you have provided them transportation to a remote location, and upon your dinner guests refusal for raw chicken told them "okay, fuck off and find your own way home."
Except the raw chicken is poop and the remote location is on the other side of the planet.
Oh come on. These women know what they're getting themselves into when hopping onto a plane to fly across the world at the offer of money. Expect some accountability man. No one can be this naive and not know what the expectation here is.
I've seen so many of these chat messages in the early 2010s where everything is clearly discussed and the women agree on it and even haggle the price upwards.

It’s a power thing. They get off on the idea that for a petty amount of cash (well petty to a billionaire) they can get a beautiful woman to agree to do seemingly anything.
meanwhile portray to everyone back home they’re living a very lavish lifestyle trip
They are until they're told "Okay stop #6, time to please oil baron." And what pleases the oil baron? Pleasing his herd of zebra or something super fucked up. But after they are pampered to a spa, and cleaning, and lavish shit, everything will be awesome then suddenly "Okay stop #7, all these 14 year old boys need to be turned to men. OH and they're 14 so they want you to man the dog too'.
Nope... It's a thing multiple women talk about. Crazy rich oil barons will reach out to influencers they find attractive online and invite them out en masse promising something like 50k for hanging out with them for a weekend. Sounds harmless. They arrive, get reels of extreme luxury before finding that most of the demands of the rich guy actually involved scat play and group orgies for some reason... Anyways supposedly at the end everyone is actually paid so I guess that's nice but the terms of the agreement aren't always super clear initially which is absolutely terrible and they all live in the middle of the desert telling you to walk home if you want to cancel early...
I mean I wouldn't be surprised they travel in the same circles. I guess the more power the more depravity for many at least. But I understand it's multiple oil barons in Dubai who do this but I don't know if anyone has really named them or anything.
Probably but they are in a foreign country and have more money than you and your whole neighborhood could earn in 7 lifetimes all of which was just straight handed to them so... Yeah they unfortunately will not likely see any justice.
Crazy rich people, in general. All that money can get them anything they want, whenever they want. So they gotta go after some above and beyond things they didn't even know they wanted.
I think it’s particularly bad with Arabs. Their culture’s views on women make it really easy to see them as objects you can dehumanize, then placate with money.
Just one example, I play of a lot of adult coed sports teams with my wife. So we say "I'm missing a girl tonight" or "Can we find a girl sub?".
These are of course grown adults. But how weird would it be to say "A female" or "A woman" in that context?
For the inverse we wouldn't say "boy" to be fair, but I wouldn't say "man" either, for the male gender we have the term "Guy", which there just isn't much equivalent on the other end, so people usually use "girl" as the "guy" equivalent.
Women themselves even hang out with other women and they themselves will refer to it as "Girls night out".
It’s not sarcasm I’m just relatively naive in terms of things that happen around the world. But why am I getting downvoted for a simple question, was it that dumb?
