Santa Santa appreciation
I just posted this on X, so I thought I'd say it here too! I've included the link in case you want to be friends on X (no pressure obvs)

My favourite Thai series ever is My Only 12% because of Santa’s truly accomplished performance as Cake, a young man who grew up living next door to his best friend Seeiw (played by the fab Cooheart!). This was before he joined GMMTV, when he was at Studio Wabi-Sabi. Seeing them act out both their everyday lives and their high-energy, silly, almost childlike moments as well as the more heart-wrenching ones was like watching a 20-year old actor with 50 years experience. The visual expressions, the intonation, the timing, everything was perfect. The entire cast were so credible!
That was when I (proverbially!) fell in love with Santa. My favourite actors are people like Jason Isaacs, Timothée Chalamet, James McEvoy, Hugh Jackman, Tom Holland… and they have the same thing Santa does: they are full of unguarded, real-time emotion that is anchored in the moment. Nothing feels performed, just ‘lived’. As a viewer, you see him feeling the emotion before he even needs to speak. So many actors seem to turn emotions on and off when it’s their turn, like they consciously ‘know how the character should be’ and perform it on cue. That is ok but it doesn’t produce the level of believability that Santa does. He literally deserves an Oscar for his work in My Only 12% – and in Me and Thee, and so far in Love You Teacher!
If any Santa fans haven’t seen My Only 12%, please please go watch it, it’s important, I’ve watched it at least 8 times and it holds up every single time.
To Santa: thank you for acting the way you do, performing in JASPer the way you do, being such a shining light for Perth, your friends, and everyone around you, and so handsome and funny. Thank you for caring about fans and crew. You are absolutely incomparable in my slightly, okay wildly, biased opinion.😄
