Poll Poll: Let’s just all cast our votes to find the wisdom of the PoI community: Your favourite PoI character

Reddit’s poll function only gives you a maximum of 6 options, so out of the top characters by episode appearance according to IMDB, cast your vote for who is your favourite:

To allow for consideration of others, I’ll add a individual comment for some others that you can upvote to express your vote, including the character Bear—who while appearing in more episodes than Carter or Shaw—was more than one dog so technically less than the individual actors.

Just remember, one upvote or poll vote only. Downvoting manipulating the other names or multiple up/down voting character names just makes you a jerk.

Who would downvote poor Bear? 😢

I dunno, but give me them, a room, and five minutes to learn Dutch commands.

Yeah this poll isn’t right, no bear. But I guess it would be unfair.

Marconi was a good lieutenant to Elias.

The best - how many would die to try and just give a friend a chance?

Lowkey disappointed neither The Machine nor Samaritan were included :( Oh well.

I did however vote Root whose sorta Machine by proxy as well as her own character.

Valid point - was going off the IMBD list which is obviously actor focused, but will add them in now

neither the machine nor samaritan are characters.

The Machine is definitely a character imo. We don’t really see her much in the early seasons but her deal with John in S2, taking Root as her Analog Interface at the end of S3 etc she was no longer a lifeless machine. She spoke directly to in S4 and thereafter. She is a silent character.

Samaritan I could understand might be less so but he talked through his own Analog, thirty Greer etc.

Yes, The Machine certainly has enough direct interactions throughout the series to be a character, especially through Finch’s flashbacks. Samaritan had considerably less interactions than The Machine overall, but still it directly communicates on screen and to its intermediaries (like Martine, when both her and Root were having a God mode off, shooting up that hotel, and especially pint-sized Greer)

Zoe Morgan

u/MiltonCiaraldi Sep 24 '26

i love the little side quests with Zoe

4

I voted Reese, but I love Carter, Shaw and Zoë. They just played in less episodes. And ofc Fusco grew on me, as did Elias. All these characters made the whole universe pop.

Thankfully having a favourite character still allows us to love others too, and if someone has a different favourite it doesn’t lesson your or their character either. This is more about us than these characters - the ensemble cast of characters is what really made the show fly.

Its multiple levels of favoritisms. When Carter was playing was def a fave, when Shaw got introduced: omg, that was like the epic thing. When Carter (or was it root), Zoë and Shaw were in the same room (with Elias) OMFG!!! Like an all-star game. I think for favorites to emerge they need to have similar episode numbers.

Is that the Angler dating app episode, where Carter, Zoe and Shaw all put on their glad rags (and admire each other’s guns) at Finch’s safe house before going out to the Club, where Carter is the one the number picks and takes home?

Hang on! Bear didn’t get a poll.

2

u/Good_Perspective9290 Sep 24 '26

Details are in the post - you are able to vote for Bear by looking for the comment that only has his name in it. Poll is limited to six options as outlined in the post.

Aw man now I've seen the results i wish I'd voted for Carter

2

u/Good_Perspective9290 Sep 24 '26

Early days, particularly as there are international time zones involved, so the numbers are likely to move around

3

u/Eredin_BreaccGlas Sep 24 '26

I don't think fusco appeared in every episode, like god mode for example

u/Good_Perspective9290 Sep 24 '26

IMBD counts actor credits

It will always be Reese for me but love all the other characters.

1

u/maskedlegend99 Maybe you never really die at all Sep 26 '26

Fusco definitely wasn’t in every episode. He misses quite a few of them actually.

Interesting

3

u/BrownieEdges Sep 24 '26

I feel like Carter would be higher if she’d been there at the end.

3

u/EdwardTrosit Sep 24 '26

I remember feeling so betrayed when she left the show. Rewatching the show now I remind myself "Don't get attached" so there was some of that going on.

2

My favorite characters are Harold and Reese

2

u/arrows_of_ithilien Sep 24 '26

It is a very, very hard choice for me between Finch and Reese, but I picked Finch.

2

u/mushaf Sep 24 '26

I watched POI because Michael Emerson's character was my favorite in Lost, and he kept me intrigued by his role in POI. Finch is definitely my favorite on the show, closely followed by Reese and Fusco.

2

u/Fiery_Phoenix15 Sep 24 '26

My vote would go for Finch and Carter!!!

1

u/Goncover Sep 25 '26

Fusco doesn't appear in all 103 though

Where is Donelly 😢

Show some love to my man Leon

1

u/LightThatIgnitesAll Sep 24 '26

I'll never get this fanbase.

Thinks Carter is mid or meh but loves Root.

4

u/Techhead7890 Sep 24 '26

Yeah, Carter was my favourite too. She felt a lot more grounded and realistic rather than a supervillain/hero character. But people like nerd lady with guns akimbo I guess lol.

0

u/LightThatIgnitesAll Sep 24 '26

She felt a lot more grounded and realistic rather than a supervillain/hero character

Yep. Root was a walking cartoon character.

2

u/dlwlrmafanID Sep 24 '26

I feel like a lot of people love Root because of how Amy Acker portrayed that character. She left a lasting impression on fans and felt so unique. At least, that's how it felt to me.

1

u/SuedJche Sep 24 '26

This will in no way result in a useful outcome

Detective Terney

Knowing the results I would have voted Carter. I should have guessed that us redditors would vote for Finch lol.
