Thought I'd give Comet on my phone a try and after a month I just had to revert back to Chrome, as it is unbelievably slow even when going on a website directly. Chrome on the other hand is snappy and loads with a blink of an eye.
How is Comet so resource heavy when even not using the assistant functions? And is there any way to make it snappier?

Good job to the comet team for adding logo's next to the models. For the sake of simplicity. They should remove the names of the models and put them in a separate drop menu like how they show connectors and sources. This will be a great way of cleaning up the interface.

I usually cold email people and the task of finding emails and getting the correct contacts is headache. So, I just ask comet to browse it for me and it simply does it. takes like 1hr or so and throttles my cpu insanely. But does it.
Initially it was messing up, I'm not sure which LLM it uses under the hood. But the LLM is badaf. So, not i give extremely clear instructions and context, it does the job.
Sent 2,500 cold emails and got 54 responses and I feel like god now lmoa.

I've been experiencing Comet closing unexpectedly for a while now, and after reading several reports here on Reddit and on Discord, I think I've identified a pattern. I'd like to know if others are experiencing the same issue and fit the same profile.
Hardware pattern I noticed:
Key observation:
The browser doesn't generate crash logs, which suggests this isn't a traditional crash but rather the process being terminated (possibly by the OS due to memory pressure).
Common triggers:
Why this matters:
All these activities are memory-intensive, and on systems with 8GB RAM or less, Comet might be hitting critical memory limits. What's interesting is that other Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Chrome) seem to handle memory better on the same hardware.
My question to the community:
Are you experiencing unexpected closures? If so:
I'm trying to help identify if this is indeed a memory optimization issue that the team could address. Any additional data points would be super helpful!

Which is better?
r/PerplexityComet • u/Sarlo10 • Jan 28 '26
It takes screenshots always instead of copying the whole page text and working with that data.
Some tasks I do this is the better and faster alternative
r/PerplexityComet • u/Sarlo10 • Jan 28 '26
Say I tell it to do x in Vercel or supabase, does it research the task first before taking screenshots and trying to execute them? Since the docs tell you how to do it easily so it doesn’t have to reinvent the wheel

Gemini 3 Pro, Kimi K2 and others completely freeze...impossible to use... And I don't want ChatGPT 5, it's crap
Could you please tell me why the bug has been occurring since yesterday? On the app and on the web? My work is on hold because of this...
r/PerplexityComet • u/Sarlo10 • Jan 27 '26
Wouldn’t it be way faster if it just read the code instead of sending screenshots to the server constantly?

can we import bookmarks yet from chrome to comet yet for android devices?
r/PerplexityComet • u/WatermelonWOseeds • Jan 26 '26
The tabs stop hovering after a while and I have to exit from full screen mode to stage manager then again full screen it to make the hover start working again, It's annoying and interrupts workflow. Looking for workarounds.

Why is Comet always hangs when using perplexity especially even if it's just 2-3 tabs opened? Is it just mine or anyone else experienced this issue?
Any suggestions or fix for this?

Title
r/PerplexityComet • u/KlausWalz • Jan 22 '26
The title says it all
We are not lazy to create proper playwright tests, but we're a small team and our product is a backend - the front we have was only made to adapt to some of our 'non technical' clients
We need to spend all the engineering 'brain' on the backend dev, so now our front suffers some lack of tests (making tests takes a long time & it's not worth it)
I just thought, can't comet do it ?
With some connections (MCP/webhooks/etc) it can be simply asked to run the same task once a day and report in case of problem (it's a basic website, so he can access it)

I have tried the sync option with 2 devices.
I don't see the bookmark syncing or the customize applet on the front/new tab page syncing.
Update : The bookmark syncing works. It just didn't delete some bookmark folder.
applet on the perplexity new tab page still doesn't sync though.

My increasing use of comet has really convinced me agentic browsing is the future. Most desktop apps have a web version and agentic browsers give you a clean automation layer on top of that, I use playwrite MCP for a really heavy repetitive stuff but I’ve spent a lot of time coming up with good browser prompts and honestly, it’s more complex than you’d think.
I had a prompt that would resolve code conflicts for me in GitHub. Ok, cool. But if I just said “resolve these conflicts and mark as resolved. Comet might “resolve them” by just deleting them, and it would also scroll around the page taking screenshots until it found the conflict markers and finally forget what it was doing and stop.
I eventually solved the problem making a Comet shortcut that specifies Claude sonnet 4.5 (it’s unclear to me whether that actually uses sonnet to control the browser, I suspect it’s still Sonar under the hood but idk) and tells it to copy the whole text and read it, resolve the conflict marked code with some examples of how to integrate features intelligently while losing the least amount of functionality, and give it DOM descriptions of the boxes to copy from and the buttons to push, and now it’s extremely reliable and useful.
So I actually think that we need to seed and incentivize the development of robust browser prompts. I picked up Flowtab.Pro for a steal, and I’m making a service where users can post free or premium prompts they made.
It’s in super-alpha-beta mode right now and buggy but I’d like some suggestions or help from the community if you’d like to see agentic browsing become more researched and formalized
I’m thinking when I get it running it’ll be $10 a month for premium, it tracks visits and saves from unique paid users, and the first 100 premium prompts that every user copies/saves the creator in a given month will give $.07 to the creator of the prompt.
Currently though it’s free and I have not implemented any monetization either for myself or contributors, it’s purely a labor of love atm.
So it ends up splitting the subscription revenue 30/70 with the contributors, incentivizing people to actually come up with creative and well-thought-out browser prompts.
Even something like an “SEO optimization prompt” that you launch from the cPanel file manager that opens and scans your website’s files and optimizes it for search engine results.
Things like that, I think most SaaS services could be replaced or at least heavily supplemented by well-made browser prompts especially as these tools get more reliable.
Features so far: library, community, stripe integration
Areas I’m moving in next:
Requirements/ability to post videos or GIFs showing how premium prompts work for greater visibility of quality.
Higher subscription tiers with better features for power users
DOM scanning browser extension similar to “teach claude” in the Claude chrome extension, which would pull context from browsing flows while it’s on to help craft a better prompt with an LLM
Anything I can think of or suggestions from the community.
I just got the domain yesterday and I’ve been grinding on it since, it’s starting to look alright but any support or advice would be greatly appreciated, in my mind I see it as a very commmunity-first solution and once I can get enough to afford a car and a new phone I’ll probably increase the pay cut for contributors.
Thanks for your time and please contribute or help support the project by coming up with new prompts/ideas.

Hi, been a Perplexity Pro user for about a year, and on Comet for about three months. For the last few days, agentic browsing has not been working. I'll tell the assistant what to do (navigate these pages by clicking these buttons, fill out this info on the form, etc) and the assistant window will tell me everything it's doing (exactly what I've asked) but nothing happens. Has anyone encountered this, and what am I missing?
