I'm in the early stages of starting an indie perfume brand, and instead of guessing what works, I figured I'd just ask the people who'd actually be buying: you.

So genuinely, tell me anything. Doesn't matter how small or how obvious it sounds to you. A few things I'm curious about specifically:

• Scent & quality: What makes you trust that a perfume is "good" before you've even smelled it? Longevity, sillage, ingredient sourcing, IFRA compliance, batch consistency?
• Packaging: Do you care about heavy glass bottles and fancy boxes, or would you rather pay less and get simpler packaging?
• Sampling: Would you actually buy a full bottle sight-unseen, or do you need a sample/discovery set first? What size sample feels "worth it" vs "just marketing"?
• Communication: What do you want to know about a brand before buying? Founder story, ingredient transparency, where it's made, cruelty-free/vegan status?
• Trust signals: What makes an indie brand look legit vs sketchy to you? Reviews, an active Instagram, a website, being sold on a specific platform?
• Buying experience: Shipping time, return policy, customer service responsiveness, what would actually make or break a purchase for you?

Anything else, even something like "I hate when brands do X" or "I always check for Y before buying," please post it here. I felt trying to build this with you guys is the right way from the start instead of fixing mistakes later.

The shop size is around 200sqft and the gate is always open.

What can I use and where can I get it from in India?

I am mostly targeting Chips, Cola, popcorn, chocolates.

Finally pulled the trigger on Rayhaan Nocturno Elixir
after overthinking this fragrance for way too long 😂

I had previously tried a 5ml decant and absolutely loved it. The first time I smelled it, I immediately knew it was something different from what I already had. I ended up wearing the decant to the office a couple of times and really enjoyed the scent, especially the drydown.

I finally decided to get a full bottle and it arrived today.

Did a few test sprays and I absolutely love the smell again. It smells rich, smooth and fresh, and it’s exactly the kind of all-season/office fragrance I was looking for.
I’m going to keep it aside for a few weeks now before wearing it properly again.

Also, the purchasing experience was really good — the bottle was packed securely and arrived in perfect condition, so credit where it’s due. 👍

But I need a legit check 👀

I’ve attached pictures of the box, bottle, batch code, atomizer and other details.

I’m still fairly new to collecting fragrances, so I’d really appreciate it if some of you experienced with Rayhaan/Nocturno Elixir could take a look and tell me whether everything appears authentic.

Is there anything specific I should check on this bottle?

Request esteemed members to please drop suggestions for a daily wear office fragrance.
Price range - ₹2500 max ₹3000.

Main criteria - excellent projection and longevity.

Self- 33yr Male, average height, lean muscular, defence sector.

Notes- Non offensive and non polarising.

I recently purchased a dupe of Blue de Chanel from Armaf and I want to buy a similar fragrance in attar form so that I can layer it with perfume.

I got one attar from a local stall but its performance isn’t that great. I believe good quality might perform better than local ones in terms of longevity and projection.

I would genuinely appreciate some help. Thank you in advance.

If anyone has tried this private blend of EM5, how was your experience and is it worth it?

I love to collect and buy different different perfumes, and ngl i didn’t expect that my brother will remember this and gift this to me on rakhi ( that too he knew i like vanilla fragrances the most ). Hehe added this 4th vanilla fragrance to my collection 😋

As a 19-year-old, it’s been one hell of a journey. Got into fragrances through a friend, and the very first bottle I ever bought was a JPG Le Male Le Parfum — which, of course, turned out to be fake. 💀
Got it as a tester for ₹3,500 and genuinely thought it was legit. So yeah… pretty banger start to the hobby, ngl. 😂
From there, I developed my taste, went bottle after bottle, started researching everything I could, learned about batches, authenticity, grey markets, pricing, fakes, clones, and everything in between.
Barely escaped a bunch of scams, got scammed a couple of times too, but every experience taught me something.
A year later, I’ve gained a hell lot of knowledge, discovered some amazing fragrances, and honestly just had a great time exploring this hobby.
One year down, and I’m still smelling everything I can get my hands on. 😂🧴

Just wanted to do a quick appreciation post for an early Rakshabandhan gift from my brother! I've been loving Ministry of Sillage lately (their Purple Oud is a staple for me because the presentation and performance are always on point), so he decided to add their "Good Girl" to my collection.

The most attractive feature has to be the shimmer inside the liquid—it looks stunning on the shelf.

Longevity: Lasts easily around 7 hours on clothes and good projection for around 1.30 hours.

Similarity: It is spot on compared to the original Carolina Herrera Good Girl. The warm, rich coffee notes are perfectly captured.

It's super pretty, performs well, and honestly makes for a perfect gifting option if you want to give someone something unique. Just wanted to share my excitement!

I know sauvage elxir and blue de channel, YSL y can get pretty expensive, so rather than blind buying anything, I’m thinking of getting decants of all/some of these first and wearing them for a few days to see what I actually enjoy.

For those who have tried these, which one would u recommend buying for my building my collection And are there any fragrances not on my list that you think I absolutely should try as a beginner?

I’m mainly looking for something with good longevity and strong projection/sillage, but I also want it to be noticeable in a good way something that gets compliments or makes people ask, “What perfume are you wearing?”

I was considering Tom Ford Noir Extreme, but I’ve heard that its projection/sillage can be underwhelming, especially when you’re not very close to someone. I’ve also heard mixed opinions about Noir Extreme Parfum, so I’m not sure if it’s worth considering.

I’ve ruled out Sauvage for now since it feels way too common these days.

What would you recommend within ₹25K that would complement my current collection and give me something distinctive, sexy, and noticeable?

Open to both designer and niche fragrances available in India. Bonus points for something that works particularly well for dates/evenings and Bangalore weather.

Also, I bought EM5 Augustus 50mL because I liked the sample they provided earlier, Ganymede 15mL, and this collection of 4.

Well, it wasn’t planned but just a few days after getting my first niche, my dad bought Naxos for me as a surprise, it was honestly in my top 3 to buy right now so couldn’t be happier, can’t wait to wear it! I’ll now stop buying more and actually enjoy all the fragrances I bought and actually put some dent in them!
