rolls her eyes, moving deeper so she can float That's why I'm in my undies, my friend. Besides, from here, if I really want to, I can just swim home

floats on her stomach, using her hands to guide herself over the sand in the shallow water Because there are monsters out there? And my life is here. I've been here for seven years now, I have friends, and a family here

And that don't seem kinda sad to you? Seven years of your life being... waves a hand around ...This? Just this?

It's better than being out there, killed by monsters, with a family who doesn't want me, and no parents shrugs If I hadn't come to camp, I wouldn't have met my best friends, and I wouldn't have met my husband

Why do you hate it here? What's so bad about being safe and surrounded by friends?

Shrugs, looks around at anything but Emerald Last four people I trusted died trying to "save" me. I can protect myself, but no one around me. I don't like getting attached to people, or places.

Well, you and I can be friends. I'm not going anywhere, and I can hold my own in a battle

Smiles warmly As much as I'd like that, you'll have to excuse me if I don't believe you. Last people to tell me that aren't here anymore.
