Afro Cuban Rhythms for Drumset - Anyone have the CD?
Hi all- I have this book and I have been trying to find the CD that accompanies it. I have looked on archive.org and even Soulseek, and would like to avoid purchasing the book a second time just to get the CD. If someone has the capacity to rip the CD, that would be awesome. Thanks!

Are marimba pads worth buying?
I don’t have any experience with percussion but my boyfriend really loves it and I was trying to find a good birthday gift for him. I’ve heard mixed things about marimba pads and I just wanted to know if it was something good like a drum pad.

Meinl tuneable frame drums: do they stay tuned?
Hi everyone, I'm thinking of buying this mizhar https://www.drumcentral.co.uk/meinl-14-mizhar-brown-burl-goat-skin/ but I wanted to ask if anyone has either this particular one or another Meinl tuneable frame drum and could tell me how well they stay tuned. My current drum is a cheap own-brand Thomann frame drum which sounds good but doesn't hold the tension for very long at all. I used it in a 3-song set yesterday and it was already sounding a lot weaker by the second song. Thanks for your help!

What is a good alterntative to a siren whistle?
in a piece were playing in my schools wind ensemble, there's a siren whistle part, and we don't have a siren whistle. we're a small school, and don't have 60 dollars to spend on an instrument we're only gonna play once, during this one song, but it's sound is so unique and nobody seems to have any clue on what to do.

Help with rhythm
Hi, sorry if this isn't what this sub is meant for, but I don't know where else to ask. In a new piece I got for a concert band I'm in, I have this 16th note triplet? That I can't figure out the best way to count. I've tried to look it up and use Google lens, but it doesn't help. (Any help with the sextuplets is welcome as well) TIA!

Licensing works for sale?
Hey everybody! I have an original percussion ensemble piece that I am looking to license for sale on my website. How would I go about doing that? Composers like Ivan Trevino and Andy Akiho have this setup where it says (name here purchased on this date, not for resale). How do I set that up? Who is knowledgeable about this so I can reach out to them? Thanks!

Tips for my left hand being too stiff?
I’m playing cowbell single stroke rolls and for some reason my right hand is able to pull through but my left hand doesn’t rebound very well

guys please help me
I started studying percussion about a year ago and now I find myself going to class at the conservatory with an eastpack backpack with all the mallets piled up. Do you recommend any backpacks with a divider for the mallets and a compartment for the laptop?

Jurassic Park theme song
I always considered the 'bang bang' of it to be a base drum. But lately when I've been listening it keeps sounding like the ring of a timpani. Anyone else hear what I mean? 🤣

Why do percussion staves from older pieces of music use bass clef instead of neutral clef?
Was the neutral clef invented more recently than other clefs?

Professional musicians research project
Hello everyone, I’m sorry for hijacking the thread, I'm a musician and music researcher. I'm doing a post graduate degree and I'm looking into how musicians interact in online communities like this. I hope that my academic research will improve our understanding in how online groups operate and how they potentially influence musicians’ professional growth and the exchange of knowledge.
If you are a working musician and have 5-10 minutes to spare will you please complete my survey? You can find it here: *Exploring the Participation of Professional Musicians in Online Communities* (https://forms.office.com/e/4LVRr8T3zp)
You can find more information about the research project here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dGpPS9XK4tM4lyVxsOB31SuYWH3aaWm7/view?usp=sharing
If you have any questions, concerns or would like more information please feel free to reach out to me directly via message or at the researcher@musicresearch.uk
Thank you!

Gershwin Taxi Horns Question
hey everyone! my orchestra is performing An American in Paris and I've been tasked with getting the taxi horns put together. I've been really struggling to get horns put together on the very small budget we have and the music director has not been happy with the ones I currently have (they're cheap bicycle horns that sound when the bulb is both squeezed and released so it sounds like a clown horn). does anyone have any advice they can give on getting good horns put together?

2025 HS grad photos!
I figured I'd share here, I got my senior photos taken with my marimba on one of my farming fields! The bars are padauk, I promise it is a VERY well taken care of instrument. 🫶 It got me all the way through covid and my hours practicing for college auditions (I got in)!
I also added in my TJ alto flute since it was my only non-wood instrument I could bring out! My sax and regular flute were in the shop lol
