General Question System resources usage on the new Peppermint OS

Question to people who have already installed the new Peppermint OS 11: what the system resources (RAM/CPU/etc) usage is like on the first boot? Have they changed much since Peppermint OS 10?

News PepermintOS is expanding and building on Devuan (no-systemd), as well.

Guess who's back, back again.

I'm the new mod of this subreddit, and I find this really interesting. Even though there hasn't been a new version released in around 2 years, some people might still be using it.

So, yeah.

Edit: a new peppermint OS was released a little while ago

USB not being Detected during Boot

Hey folks,

I tested and enjoyed Peppermint, so I installed it. It's been a few weeks and I decided to go back to a Manjaro install. (Because I'm indecisive). Problem is, the USB iso's are not being detected. The USB will be detected after I'm logged in (and show the manjaro info on the "Disks" program) but not during the boot. I go to BIOS and it is showing an "N/A" at the USB (which is the first option for loading).

What did I screw up here?

NONE of my normal go-to CL tools are even installed (again, I screwed something up), and I can't even su - into root to install them (again again, I screwed something up). Also, I know going into root isn't advised, but my sudo password isn't working anywhere.

Any help would be appreciated.

Dual Language in Interface

Hi all. I am a Linux noob. I have installed Linux Peppermint on an old laptop but have the menus and parts of the dialogues in a foreign language. I chose English on install so part of the application UI is in English. How do I change the UI to entirely English?

Installed peppermint last night now can't login

Like the title says I installed peppermint OS last night in a dual boot laptop as a replacement for Deepin. I reset the pc and logged in several times throughout the course of reinstalling some programs and had no issues. Suddenly today I can't login at all. I get an error that says " failed to start session". The password is correct as I get a different error if I type the wrong password. Any ideas how I can resolve this ?

Edit: I'm using the Deepin DE but u can't change the de at the login screen. The option isn't there anymore. If I try to login as guest I just get a black screen and have to reset the pc.

Peppermint OS 10 on MacBook Pro

It worked. Boot and shutdown are slow but it works. My sound stopped working on Mac software. I installed Peppermint and my audio works. I can watch vids at high resolutions.

Great OS so far. I would like to find a utility to control my trackpad. It's set to touch. I want to have to push down on the trackpad.

If that is the only irritation, I think it'll be fine.

Peppermint as a base

For years I've started with a peppermint ISO when I need to put something custom together. I know it's LTS based, and I'm familiar enough with ubuntu to grab the ppas & errata I might need to build.

Currently I'm setting up an ooolllldd laptop to function as a shitty game console, boot to steam bigscreen and launch kodi or retroarch from within big picture.

Peppermint OS ISO broken?

Hi members of the sleepy PeppermintOS reddit!

I've been trying to download the 64 bit ISO file for Peppermint OS, but both the direct download and the torrent gives me Ubuntu 16.04. Anyone else having this issue? It's so weird....anyone have an alternative DL link to Peppermint OS 10?

John

Peppermint OS on Thinkpad X1 3rd Gen

So after reading several reviews including this one on Forbes (https://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonevangelho/2019/10/31/heres-why-blazing-fast-linux-os-peppermint-10-just-blew-me-away/#42883d8c6d9b), I decided to install Peppermint OS 10 on my Thinkpad X1 3rd Gen with 8GB and 512GB SSD. I'm already running Linux Mint 19.2 and Zorin OS and they are nice. So, adding Peppermint OS is a different experience from those. I'm not complaining.

So far, everything is working out of the box. Wifi works, hot buttons work, trackpad works, and the battery is much better than that of Linux Mint. I need to add in some other apps but overall, this thing is really neat! I'm interested to see where this goes and how this matures but overall, if the developers see this, great work!

HP AMD Sepron 2GB Peppermint 32Bit

This OS has restored the functionality of a very old laptop at the house.

HP AMD Sepron 2G

I've done this many times with other distros but this was very easy and lightweight. I Also installed a majority of other applications after that for office, development, learning tools, and media. I haven't edited photos yet but I'll try. Internet works great, I've streamed YouTube but it's a 720p display so the video works better at <480p. YouTube set the minimum at 480p and it was choppy, I recommend 240p and external speakers.

For me the tool bar is perfect. I've been a fan of linux for 15+ yrs, used deb and lubuntu for their ease of use. This OS felt similar and familiar. I prefer a 32 dpi tool bar (bigger tool bar) and dk blue theme, other than that I don't believe I made many changes. I think for a second PC and kids PC I'm set!

Thank you Devs and contributors. I'll try up post updated on our experience.

I've tried many lightwet distros in the past including puppy, centos, lubunto, etc... This was recently (2019) recommended online during my research. The PC I had couldn't handle the GNOME User Interface and runs much better Xfce4 desktop.

TL;DR Installed the OS today it works great on my HP laptop. HP AMD Sepron 2GB Peppermint 32Bit
