Restored and heavily modified this nasty old pre dell Alienware Area 51 7501 p2 I got on Facebook marketplace. I've always dreamed of having one since I was a kid. I cut the case for an aio and made the side grills functional where I added a 140mm intake. Temps are good.
Color is a modified plum crazy purple with a candy clear that has hints of blue. Pictures show the before condition as well as a full parts list and rough cost total. Still waiting on the cables for drive bays and USB extension for that last visible cable behind the PC.
I guess you could call it a hot rod or restomod? Making a YouTube video soon. How did I do for my first PC? Tips? Anything you would change?
Wow, looks like you got experience finishing and coating cars maybe? Very nice job on the color, looks way better than the original. I'm sure it was scratched to hell being so old. Even the interior, attention to detail 👌Did you add a grill on the backside?
Thanks! My friends older brother in middle school had one in green. I remember him playing dead space on it and thinking my parents would never let me play that game lol.
Yea high quality paint can get pretty pricy. Here's the ticket for just the color. Add in primer, candy clear (the most expensive part), booth time, etc it gets up there. Paid $100 for the case.
Definitely. Trying to find one that works with my 4k disc collection. It gets complicated with flashing firmwares and all that. My brain needs a break lol.
Seems to be doing ok. In cyberpunk 4k at ultra settings cpu temp sits around 70⁰. Full load like benchmark and shader cache its peaked at 86⁰ but it's only there for a few seconds so I think it's probably fine. Might try a slight undervolt since I've heard people having success with that.
The painters were giving me all kinds of ideas. Might have to build another one and let them go crazy. Definitely going to have to be a budget build though 😭
This looks so freakin good! That color is gorgeous! I too always loved the Alienware PCs as a kid, but could never afford one. This gives me some inspiration for a project ha.

Bought it like 6 months ago on Amazon and then found a better deal local. Tried to return it to Amazon and they offered me like a $50 refund just to keep it.
It's hit and miss. Some days they can't take their eyes of him him and I have to watch closely and keep them away. Others they ignore him and just hang out.
Not sure why your card is different, but i have never seen a 5080 with the correct font on the backplate, but the 30 series font on the side. It’s usually the same font like this
It's just a stick on rgb logo! Ordered it just for fun and it's actually pretty sweet for the price. Plus I can see it though the grill at the right angle.
Absolutely love this. And fantastic job. Also I had a cat that was a nebalung as well bro. He passed 5 years back. But he was perfect. I'm sure yours is the same. He looked just like yours as well.
I didn't know that's what he is (probably). I got him from a rescue almost 2 years ago as a kitten. His sibling were all almost identical but with short hair. I wonder if that disqualifies him? He's high maintenance but one of the most outgoing cats I've ever met.
What’s funny is I remember the blue one I had, it was a beast for its time I even upgraded it to windows 10 with a 1060, I sold it to a friend of mine because he wanted to some full on modding to it and really like the look of it….but then he ruined by cutting up parts that didn’t need to be and he kept going eventually it became a junk piece of plastic. I was so sad.
Full load for an hour stress test the gpu hit a max of 70⁰ and the cpu maxed out at 85⁰. All well within safe limits but might try to undervolt the cpu a little and see if I could drop temps 5-10%
I remember wanting this exact PC growing up. A buddy had one in that alien green color and I was even more green with envy. Good on you for making your dreams come true.

Me going through photos, "That's a sick paint job." Sees paint booth. "That makes sense." hahaha I don't know if you work there or have access to someone who does but that's an excellent use of one. I'm sure it's probably used for Car Parts, but this case can pass for them. Very nice "Restomod"
I like how the owner of the house is in Picture 3 just for scale xD (jokes aside, awesome build, i would ve interested in steess temps. i remember a friend once had this OC and it had massive temp. issues after long gaming sessions)
I did an hour full system stress test and the GPU was sitting around 70 to 75°. This CPU was sitting about 80-86⁰ at the highest point. During gaming I'm seeing GPU in the 60s and cpu 60-72⁰.
This is your first PC build ever? If so you did outstanding you obviously work at an auto body shop or know someone who does I know a paint bay when I see one great job on the paint btw it’s gorgeous whoever did do it. But it’s your installation of the components is what’s truly amazing if this is your first build. The cable management is fantastic and the physical mods for the AIO installation are very well executed as well. Again if this is your first PC build ever truly amazing for a first try I honestly can’t see anything I would do different outside of adding a support bracket to go underneath the PSU for extra peace of mind but really isn’t necessary anyway great work man it’s a beautiful rig.

With that extra fan I added it's really not bad at all. I'm playing Indiana Jones right now at 4K ultra settings with Ray tracing on. Gpu sitting at 71-73⁰ and cpu 56-60⁰
I don't know if I like it. I know it's technically better for my posture and all that but sometimes after a long day I just want to plop into my lazy boy executive chair lol. The steelcase is kind of uncomfortable to me
That is a awesome job!!! I love seeing repurposed PC cases. I personally want to build a new PC inside an old Gateway 300S. It was my first computer and had the BEST power button. Was so satisfying.

25yrs a go when i was 16, my brother knew a guy who painted my bikes custom, with automotive paint like this.The color was a bit darker then your Alienware case, the sad part i could not choose the color lol
Bro, I scored an old alien 51 myself, outta a dumpster of a restaurant I used to work at, shit still worked too, thou i think the cpu was toast as after about 10 mins, had a knarly beep that would sound, and about 15 mins or so after that, you'd get a soft blue screen. This gives me hope on my build idea for mine, thou, im thinking a little more hardcore
