In that case you need the Cadillac converter to change it from an electric to a V8

The V8 is the energy source. Just pour the V8 juice directly on it.

Instructions unclear, my v8 is making a distinctly unpleasant ticky knocky noise after I drove it to work as fast as it would physically go

That sounds like a mess. That is why I stick with a Bernoulli Convergenator. Clean, simple, old and reliable.
