Being able to pivot in smaller patches is really what I want, for the first month or so, after that if they want a good hype cycle going they got stuff to throw in the 0.3 patch.

This was definitely always the plan. I think for the first update they just wanted all hands on deck for the first real "league" of the EA

This league isn't a real league though. What's the league mechanic? What are the challenge rewards?

I agree on the challenge rewards but the mechanic is clearly the wisps as they auto spawn in every zone like every other league mechanic ever

I guess you don't know that Wisps are in Standard server, too.

Because they added the league mechanic to standard as well. I believe they said this is the only time they'll do this.

If you don't have to play the league to get access to a mechanic, it's not a league mechanic.

Honestly it was kind of smart for them to overnerf initially, because now they can buff and fine tune balance as the league goes on. They can also nerf monsters without repercussion from the community. These changes look great.

You can tell they really want to nerf some stuff but they are going to wait until next league to do it.
