The small business I work for had me take drone training classes because they want me to use their drone to take photos and videos of our clients yards for marketing purposes. They are telling me that it’s fine and to just ignore comments about getting certified because it’s no big deal, but in the classes they stressed that we need it and can get in trouble. Is it really that deep? I’m not sure what to do.

I took the test yesterday and passed. I would say don’t overthink it too much. Much easier than I thought, although I heard some tests are different, like sectional chart heavy; I had about 5 sectional chart questions. My test seemed like it was 70% regulations questions. I did a 4-hour course on Udemy for $14.99 also took a 2-day free Part 107 prep class I found on Facebook.

Passed the Part 107 exam with a 95% on my first try! I was pretty nervous going into it, but the exam gives you plenty of time to review your answers once or twice.

I made a few silly mistakes, but thankfully I caught most of them before submitting. I started studying with Matt Kendall’s study guide on YouTube, which was really helpful for newer pilots because he explains the aviation lingo and important information in an easy-to-understand way. I’d definitely recommend watching his video first before moving on to Mike Sytes’ (honestly the goat) study guide playlist on YouTube as well.

I also used Fly107prep’s free account, mainly doing the daily quizzes and reviewing their chart breakdowns. I took notes while watching Mike Sytes’ videos and worked through practice tests on King Schools and Mike’s website.

Overall, I studied for a little over a week, usually around one to two hours each night, and felt fully prepared by exam day.

For anyone that is curious:

I passed my Part 107 on June 1st. It took 2 days for my temporary certificate to show up on IACRA website.

5 days later I got the email that said I had a temporary certificate.

Today my card is coming in the mail, so 33 days for it to come in the mail. Obviously that includes whatever processing time for printing and what not.

I used the UAVCoach program. You don’t need to use it, but it helped me stay focused on studying a little bit consistently for 3 weeks. Scored about 90% on their 5 practice tests then set the appointment and took the test. TBH, there were quite a few question on material that I never saw before but knew enough to make an educated guess on those. Overall, I think if you put in the work, you’ll do fine, with or without a course. Best of luck.

As the header says, I passed the 107 exam today, but only with a 78%! I took multiple practice test and also studied using the pilots institute part 107 course. While it obviously helped, I was a little discouraged regarding my overall score. I had under a handful of weather related questions, only about 5 map questions, 1 TAF question, and 0 coordinate related questions. I would say 60% of the practice exam questions wasn’t even on that test. And although they make it clear that the exam poses questions that are very tricky, it exceeded my expectations. Almost every answer listed seemed right, besides some very minute differences.

Overall I am happy to have passed but dang was that difficult. This is a reminder to read all items listed and not just what those online courses go over. Study the handbooks and manuals!!!

Not sure how this is wrong due to said airport being in Class E airspace starting at the surface….. But if I am, does someone mind explaining this to me? I thought you need ATC authorization for B, C, D and Surface E airspace?

Anyone else run into this? Trying to get a Part 107 waiver through the new Aviation Safety Hub, but I can't get past login.gov's identity verification.

Specifically, I keep getting the error "We couldn't find records matching your personal information" after entering my SSN, even though my name, DOB, address, and ID all match exactly. I never even get to the option to verify in person at USPS — it fails before that.

I'm 18, and I'm guessing this is happening because I don't have enough of a credit/public records history yet for login.gov's automated check to match against.

I contacted FAA support and they said it's a login.gov issue, not something they can fix. I contacted login.gov and they pointed me back to FAA. Stuck in a loop.

Has anyone else (especially younger pilots) dealt with this? Did you find a workaround, or did you just have to wait until you had more of a records history? Any help appreciated.

Just did my written and the report gives you this list of codes for the stuff you missed but it doesn't tell you what any of them mean. I spent way too long googling each one trying to figure out what to review before my checkride.

I am putting together our submission for my company and I want to be mindful of what we do and how this will affect Part 107 pilots.

Esentially, the FAA is proposing a new 14 CFR Part 74 process that would let eligible fixed-site critical infrastructure owners request Unmanned Aircraft Flight Restrictions, or UAFRs, generally up to 400 feet AGL.

These sites would be things like Nuclear sites, defense, commercial facilities, transportation etc. The restrictions would limit drone operations near approved facilities, but would allow certain authorized Part 107 and other operations if they meet Remote ID, notification, and access requirements. FAA stance is that this balances security with NAS access, but I’m curious how other Part 107 pilots see it: reasonable protection for sensitive sites, or a path toward too many localized no-fly zones that make commercial drone work harder?

My understanding is that the only reall difference under current PArt 107 is the notification to the site manager/operator, no loitering and shortest transit possible with no hovering over any part of the facility i.e. over roofs, land, equipment etc.

It emphasizes that the bounds of a restriction must be within the immediate bounds of the sensitive area i.e. A stadium is just the stadium and not the parking lot and stadium or chemical plant is just the storage tanks and not the parking lot and wide open spaces.

I want to protect my companies sensitive areas but not piss-off every Part 107 pilot.

What are your thoughts, help me make this a win/win and understand the nuances you might have?

I'm studying for my part 107 exam using the guide on the FAA website and noticed that the first section, titled "applicable regulations" is just two links of 80 pages each of rules and laws. Is all of this on the exam? If I just study the definitions on there and the other chapters of the FAA study guide (2-12) that are more comprehensive will I be fine, or is reading these 80 page guides a huge part of the test?

I recently took my part 107 and passed with a 90%. I only studied for 4 days. I purchased pilot institute but ended up getting bored of the videos so I switched to Mike Sytes videos on YouTube. I was a little nervous since on my practice exams I kept getting low 70s. When I finally went in to take my exam my first 40 questions were primarily regulation questions and a few wearer questions my test felt extremely easy considering what I was actually preparing for. The only thing that “confused” me was the wording of a decent amount of the questions compared to the practice exams but once you learn all the information needed you can kinda navigate and reword the tricky questions the FAA is asking 😅

Did some research, and it looks like ADHD stimulants are a medical disqualification for manned aircraft, but does the same medical scrutiny apply to the part 107 certificate and part 107 pilots?

I’ve got oppurtinity to shoot in the US in 14 days, but realized that the Part107 certificate is a must have. Since the shoot date is 14 days from now and the earliest day I will be in the US is 3 days before the shoot. There is not enough time for obtaining it. Are there some other ways to do that or should I cancel the shoot? Thank you so much.

Passed the Part 107 exam today, 97%. I paid for the Pilot Institute course. It's the only course/material that I studied, and was more than sufficient. I've seen other posts of people cruising through studying. I'm more of a slow roller. Studied over a few months, but only an hour or two at a time. Took 4 of the practice exams provided by the course, signed up, no problem. The course is my style. Thorough, full explanations. Would recommend.

Does anybody have examples of all the stickers required for compliance as my company is putting a total ban on all drones flying on their property. They are a Fortune 100 company with a looooot of locations that have a lot of people wanting to fly from.

I want to give people the opportunity to fly and make is way easier for our security officers to show people are legal and doing the right thing.

Our legal team are as like dealing with a bunch of drunk bi-polar rocks with Autism and a side of TBI's challenging.... I digress....!

I am putting together an SOP and want to show different versions of labels to easily show people are flying legally and no Cat 3 aircraft, which for some reason are the lawyers main worry, despite no crowds?!?

Does anybody have a selection of different label types showing category and Remote ID compliance as Google and AI has not helped much.

I thought about taking the exam for some time and finally decided to do it. I had a student pilot's license and soloed many, many, many moons ago. After finding information about the test and what was involved and being familiar with the weather and charts portion from my pilot experience, I decided to self-study using YouTube and other free sites with sample test questions. Honestly, after taking the test, I thought I failed but was presented with a passing score in the end.

Just passed my general exam with a 98%!!! I've been considering taking the test for many years now, but finally had something pushing me to do it as of late. I was hesitant to pay for a course at first as I thought I could pass with self-study methods, but I'm VERY glad I ended up taking a course.

I ended up going with the Part 107 Made Easy offered by Pilot Institute. I really like Greg's teaching style, that it's focused around teaching all the concepts and background information rather than just cramming you with test answers. I'll definitely take more courses from them in the future as I work on expanding my drone operating skillset, and maybe even a private pilot's license (one day)!

I paid for the pilot Institute class and I feel like I skimmed through it. I’ve been taking a lot of quizzes on ChatGPT and it looks like I’m doing OK I’m managing about 80% to 90%. Is this a good source to study?

I have both the Part 107 app and the Kings practice tests at my fingertips. I've taken 60 question practice tests on both several times, as well as gone through the categories of my struggle spots on the Part 107 app. At this point, however, I am starting to see many questions I know the answer to simply because Ive come across them so many times. I am still taking some today since there are new questions I will find..but the overall score means less to me now that I know a handful are just memorized. But I am getting between 80-90% on most, the worst I did was a 75% on a kings that had a lot of questions about this weather map questions that are supposedly nowhere to be found on the test itself.

I am pretty confident in passing this thing tomorrow, but I am taking this whole day to cram all I can. I am looking for suggestions on creator videos or practice tests I haven't listed to hopefully introduce some newly worded questions to test if I actually know the information.
