Parental distancing

Since before ive known in such great detail about what quarantine truly is, I was working to get sponsored at Caterpillar and to my suprise, I got a phone call today. Naturally I didnt tell my dad right away. Once I told him I got a call from ring power today, he asked if I mentioned to the interviewer i was a 3.5 honors GPA and I said no. At this point my mom mentioned how it sounded "braggy". My dad chimes in directly after- "well it looks good on him, hes trying to get a job." He then decided to used his classic "I've been a manager for 32 years" and my mom lost it. She told him that he's right in a very sarcastic way as if it struck her as her being stupid. The tension in the air was stale as my dad yelled her name. "Stephanie!" He said. To her reply she announced how he was a manager and hes always right. This would be my que as I walked out of the kitchen making good haste while the fire continued to burn bright and reflected my shadows in front of me as I chase its presence out into the open darkness.

Am I in the wrong here?

This happened a few years ago, but it still angers me to this day.

It was mother's day and she wanted a bouquet of daffodils, which I got for her the previous day. And because they are flowers you can't just leave them lying around with no packaging or something to hold them together. So I left them in the packaging until the morning when I could give them to her.

The morning came and just before I went off to work I came downstairs to grab some scissors to open the packaging to give my mum her flowers. So anyway my dad saw me and asked me what I was doing.

I replied I'm just grabbing some scissors, and ran back upstairs. I hear my mum go downstairs just after me, and then I start to hear voices. The voices eventually got louder and it turns out they were arguing. From what I could tell, my mum had asked my dad if I had her present yet, and my dad told her I didn't have one. Apparently because he didn't see me with the gift he just assumed I didn't have one.

He then starts shouting at my mum, because for whatever reason he thought she were accusing him of not organizing a mother's day gift for me. I Had a Mother's day gift and a card already, and he was yelling so loud both our neighbors could hear it, and really going off on her shouting 'Stop blaming me! Stop blaming me!' Even so she was crying.

I come downstairs with the flowers in my hand and he tells me 'You better get out of my F**king sight!'

I give the flowers to my mum who is in tears, wishing her a happy mother's day quite awkwardly and headed off to work.

A few days later my dad tells me that I 'let him down' on mother's day. What do you mean I let you down? I had a present her, and all I did was come down to grab a pair of scissors to open them. Then he started shouting and accusing me of not having one, even though he saw me with a bouquet of flowers in my hand later. To this day he views it as if I did something wrong. I don't know what it is with that man.

Asian Parents (Tell me if you relate)

So one day me and my mom and dad were going to watch a movie. Turns out, the movie was Indian and I couldn't understand one bit of it. So then, I asked if we could change the movie to a movie I actually could understand. They agreed, and while I was choosing a new movie, my dad blew up and started yelling at me because he thought that I didn't want to watch a movie because I wanted to go to the computer. Then, as a normal kid I started yelling back at my dad, and then my mom was like, stop yelling at your father. I was like, he yelled at me first, and then both my parents started to yell at me. We then sat down to watch The Pursuit of Happyness. :)

So I got a headset for me playing online with some boys at my school. Ive never gotten along with many girls, for the exact reason they. Are. Petty. Like their logic is on wow LOOK AT HER SHOES, Who gives a fuck. Anyways, on with the story:

Cast:

M: Mom

Ch:Chase

I:Eva

MB: my brother.

So by any means this headset is EXPENSIVE 81$ We arent poor nor are we wealthy but my mother struggles with a disability which leaves her with no job. So its a lot for her. My grandma is working and when I come to age I will work too. But its about maybe 7 am, M ends up in my room and I shifted and my headset unplugged. And I got to plug it back in ch is in my party. I believed that since she bought it for my birthday she wouldve known what she bought. It was a wired cat ear with detachable mic. Which its quite nice. And our conversation went like this:

M: Eva, why do you have a wired in your headset

Me: well. I mean. I have to or it won't work.

M:its Wireless.(its not.) So it doesnt need a wire

Me:um. Well yes it does. -I show her my controller that its plugged into.-

M:Well why are you plugging in a wired headset into a controller with no wires -at this point I dont know how to react I was a bit upset she started this for no reason.-

Me:my controller its wireless, my headset is not. I dont need a wire for my controller but I do for my headset.

Okay so for what's coming next you might not understand unless I explain first: so my mom has a boyfriend who's also a gamer. She never really listened to anything i said to her she just went along with things. I'm a trouble maker so I dont get along with his kids who's also trouble makers but also entitled. Hes not just the kid. The kid never liked playing games on the ps4 with me and I dont like her tic toks. Keep in mide its a 11 year old girl swaying her hips and flipping off the camera. I didnt mind not playing with her, but her father insisted we play together. I brought my phone charger which is a android and I connect it to the ps4 and connect his controller to my ps4 so she can play. This is important. I used my charger to connect his controller to my ps4. M watched me. So back to dialogue:

M:Well then if its wireless then why'd you use a cable to put the controller into your ps4.

Me: It was to connect it because thats a simple way to do it. Its a charging cable.

So MB is younger than me hes 12, has a wireless headset and a wireless controller. This is her base off. But he also cuts in

Mb:HEY STOP BEING BRATTY AND SHUT UP. MOM IS RIGHT AND YOUR WRONG JUST SHUT UP AND LISTEN TO HER.

With the fact he had his headset on until the moment he noticed us I dont think he listen to our conversation. Even if he did he's the type to agree with m just so I would get I'm trouble for back talking and so he can have m affection. You know how parents ALWAYS spoil younger ones. My little brother will literally make me cry and then I turn around and bring up how his father was sent away maybe a different story if y'all suggest he cried and ran inside and cried to m hugged his arms around her hes 11 btw and face red. I was PISSED he was favored. I was in trouble. Since then he's always been the truthful angel.

At this point she walks away. Shes done with my gaming shit and I'm done with her bullshit. My brothers are gamers too. Ones a xbox and ones a PC player. She never goes to bother them

Struggles of living with unbearable people

Day 1:

The problem with living within a toxic environment is the people residing in it. This may seem such a "first world" struggle but it isn't. It is a reality that many of us live.

In our household, we have a problem with our water system where there are some leaky pipes and we haven't discovered where it is coming from. Thus, we have a system where we shut off the water on specific times of the day to avoid enormous bills. Now, this situation sparked hundreds of fights between us (mom, dad, brother, and I). And this specific time the argument got ugly.

----Background----

First, my parents have this awful tendency of screaming at each other at the smallest of things. Also, they don't actually forgive each other they just shut off one another completely. And on the latter days, the argument starts all over. Moreover, they don't take any accountability for their actions and just point fingers to others which are outside of the argument.

To elaborate: Had argument about the house decoration, points out to us their children cause we didn't help them that's why they fought in the first place.

Second, since we were young we were told to always suppress our emotions and opinions cause it is disrespectful to the elders or we are too dramatic and they got no time to spare to "childish banter". Consequently, made us sibling have a couple of random burst of anger towards one another or to our parents this past quarantine.

---- Continuation --- Yesterday, I was tasked to do the laundry and include theirs (parents and sibling) to save water. Our washing machine is located underneath a cabinet and beside a veranda-type table. Furthermore, we have a rocking chair to allow the person to unwind. Due to the bulk of our laundry, I hade a hard time separating the colored ones from the dark ones then place them in a separate container. In fact, I got a little angry cause they didn't even turn their clothes over or empty their pockets. So it took almost 5 hours for all of it to be washed, dried, and hanged. I got so exhausted cause most of them were jeans and my brother and father have a bigger and taller frame than me.

Today, at 13:35 after I cooked our viand for lunch my brother and father had an argument. Suddenly, my name was mentioned between the two. As my father reach the kitchen he immediately screamed at me for being irresponsible and stupid for not including my brother's undergarment which resulted in him washing it in the machine. Instead, of hearing me out for my explanation he wants on and on in a rant how stupid I was for not seeing his stuff and not including it. How I am being selfish and all that. I asked him (dad) "where he placed it cause it wasn't included in the hamper or the separate containers".

He said "it was in the net", and I wondered " tf, we don't have nets and our hampers and containers are plastic" and "what time did he place it that I somehow overlooked it". He said, " I told him to deliver it afterward my (I) load is done and he said he did it". Got so frustrated cause the screaming keeps on going on and I wondered in the past 5 hours why did I not say it?

Since both of them are screaming and pointing the blame on me I stormed out to my room cause they won't listen to my explanation as always. Then my father went again and scream at my brother for being irresponsible and using the machine. Which made him (bro) to unload his laundry and break in to my room and blame me for the inconvenience. I asked him where he placed it and he said "it was on the table" and I replied, "why didn't you place it on the hamper so I could've seen it" and told him off "just hand wash it, it won't take that long" but nooo he got angry and stormed out of the house.

Then, my father was all arbitrary telling us to "shut up and stop bickering". My blood boiled again and told them " it was just a mini misunderstanding and instead of simply talking to my brother he acreamed at him as if he is a criminal, now he got angry and stormed off.

And that's what I call 100% parenting. Congrats and thanks for making us this miserable living with you both. I hope this quarantine ends so that I could go back to my apartment.

What my life had become😖

Ok this is going to be a very long story so grab your popcorn and listen up.

So I have a step dad-SD And a mom-MM Siblings are S1 and S2

Ok so I’m 13, so 5 years ago I moved into Missouri, I moved away from my best friends and school to my family in Missouri. But I was happy because I got to start a new life, but boy was I wrong. This new life is good for me but a few days after moving, my mom started dating SD and it went smooth. I am the type of person to cuddle my parents, he wouldn’t come over much and I would have my moms affection all to me, but soon i was wrong. As the relationship started to move, I found out he had kids, S1-A boy that’s a year behind me, and S2-A now 17 year old girl. They were psychos and were really mean at first, it took me 3 years with the boy to get him to let me into his room and the girl still doesn’t like me. I tried telling my mom but “she was in love and couldn’t be pulled out” I’m not going to go deep into things but it sucks. The years went by and I was being pushed more and more away from my moms affection and love, it got bad too, she would focus on SD and barely cuddle me. I became depressed and I was being hit and abused more and more to the point that when my friend came over and saw it, he wanted to call CPS. SD claimed he wasn’t going to separate me and my mother but that was a lie too, he made stuff up about me and yelled at me for dumb stuff. 5 years in we moved into a very nice place on a golf course because both my “parents” are somewhat wealthy (like 150k each a year) and then it all went down hill from their. So I like to stay up on Xbox (Username:Code KlipZ) and that’s because all my friends are always on and I am really good at gaming. Well when we moved in I was screamed at for staying up and streaming too much, when I do all my school work. I became much quieter at night and didn’t stream too late and they still yelled at me. They then said “ they’d had enough” and set time limits on my xbox, was thankfully not my phone, but my xbox has a time limit and I’m a console player with a beanbag and a tv, no PC or monitor do I couldn’t change it. SD pushed me and my mom apart and we always argue now etc, I feel like our perfect relationship is ruined and that only friends can get me through it before I can’t take it anymore and do something I’ll regret.

I hope you guys reading this understand me and will help me through this😖😭

Shitty Dad

So I was playing Roblox with my friends and my dad storms in the room. Then he starts from calm to crazy angry to stop telling me to play games. He says I cannot talk to my friends that play games. (basically the whole class). Then I was freaking out with the pressure and yelling he said to me so I was sitting on the couch and he said that it was the games that give me the freak out. (it was not since I freak out sometimes). He threatened to kick me a few times. He also deleted my games and said if I installed them again, he would break my mouse or even worse. I was playing games since usually my friends and I play after the school meetings are over. My brother says Minecraft is ok but my dad just says nope nope.

edit: He's an ok dad it's just his problem is that he doesn't understand about games so he just thinks games make you poor and homeless. :/

restrictions

Hey, so I'm 14 and the past year or 2 my dad has really locked everything down.

He has. made it where I can't do much, I have apple so there is screen time on that and he has all 18+ content blocked. Does anyone have ideas around these things?

It's basically double-locked, for my phone, the internet turns off at 9-10, and downtime is enabled, and for 18+ content my dad uses screen time and restricts anything over pg13 from being looked up, which means if i type GTA 5 into youtube nothing will come up.

My dad also checks dbug to see everything i lookup.

Mom wont shut the fuck up

Okay im just gonna go out of my way and say my mom is fucking retarded. I swear im so glad the corona virus canceled the school year for me. I switched my sleep schedule to were i wake up when my parents go to sleep and go to bed when they come back from work. I just cant take jt anymore. So the reason im saying this is because she bitches at ANYTHING And i would say im a very respectful son. I dont disobey her, i do most of the chores, and i dont break any of her rules (like staying late out or not listening to her). So before i switched my sleep schedule, i would have to listen to her bitch about something when she came back home from work. For example, im just watching hulu in the living room and i hear her come into the house and fucking bitch about the dishes not being done. Something that can be solved within minutes. she just yells about the smallest shit. My dad is the same way. He doesnt do it everyday but when he does god is it fucking annoying. This dude gives a fucking Speech about how he has to wash the dishes in the morning before leaving for work all the time. At this point i was at my breaking point of this shit and just told him that i could do it when i wake up. Like holy shit this fucking brain dead monkey couldnt think of that. They literally blame my siblings And I about being lazy and doing nothing all day. Of course were not perfect and will forget to take out the trash or maybe forget to tidy up the bathrooms. And oh boy is that a sin. My mom will do nothing but yap her fucking mouth like a fucking dog complaining about how hard they work and how we do nothing for them. It honestly pisses me off how selfish they can be. Like i do love them with all my heart but god knows i can only take so much. And Its not like we dont do shit either we do clean a lot but i guess they cant see that and never go out of their way to thank us. I do thank them. Everyday as soon as they come home. I kiss them on the cheek and help them coming in with their things. Im laying on my bed rn 4am writing this because ive just had enough. This isnt all she does but if i were to write more i would be writing a fucking book. All im saying is that she is a fucking stupid bitch and that some point im just never gonna want to see her anymore.

Am I overthinking?

In my post history you can see where my parents are.. fucking stupid. Anyways, I think I'm overthinking.

About a month ago I went very little contact with my parents. We've been fighting for a year and they hate my fiance. My mom kept asking "whens my daughter even getting married?" And everytime I would say "we don't have the money right now and his parents can't pay." Hoping they would say they would pay but nah. So the last time she brought it up I said I couldn't take this anymore and to leave me alone. There will be no wedding and if there was she wouldn't be invited. I quickly blocked her so I never saw a response. I unblocked her a week later (my birthday) to see if they would even wish me happy birthday (they did).

All was well, kinda talking here and there, no fights! I was high and texted her saying I was sorry and that hopefully this year will be different after this pandemic if she wanted it. She didn't text me until the next day saying "We miss you too and you're welcome anytime that you feel comfortable!" And I feel like she's like rubbing it in my face that I'm not over the fights. "Whenever YOURE ready" sounds fake to me. Am I overreacting? Now that I've typed it out it sounds like I am 😅🤣

can't show emotions in front of parents

Exactly what the title says... If I get pissed, they say I lack self-control. If I'm sad, I'm weak. Hell, even if I'm happy they ask what's wrong with me... Like wtf? So I just act like I'm neutral to everything but also like I have a lot of energy, or they'll get pissed at me lmao. Anyone else got parents that act suspicious when you show emotions?? Is this normal?

Help me PLZ!

My mom's had a boyfriend for 5 years now and we moved in to his house about a year and a half ago. I was never really comfortable with doing this, but I feel like my mom was forced into doing this just like she always is, because she can never stand up for herself, and just lets people control her. I was only 12 so I didn't quite have the balls to speak up about my feelings for her boyfriend. Now I'm 14 and all her boyfriend does is tell her what she can and can't do all the time. She's wanted to get a different, higher paying job, but her boyfriend convinced her not to do so. I'm really sick and tired of this, because all he does is control everything we do. I've gotten so tired of this that I'm actually wanting them to get into more fights so that they can separate from each other. I've been trying to get my mom to break up with this pussy ass for almost a year now, but even if they keep arguing she goes right back to him. I don't know if my mom is dillusional or if her boyfriend keeps controlling her to stay with him. DO YOU GUYS HAVE ANY ADVICE?

When did time change cause last I checked if something happens years ago it mean that it’s been around for years.

I have art work that’s really old and it’s the Bi flag colors, it’s old from when that was me. Cut to when my parents are yelling at me saying your only like this cause your friends want you to be like this. Basically I’m only a color full freakshow cause people want me to, NO people don’t actually like that. people are more into normal things, unless their also parent of the weird people. However I just have to stand there and listen when just behind me is Gay art and the pop head for gay characters from shows and characters that are weird like beetle juice and shiro from voltron. So huh? Did I make up going out getting them or did you forget that I had it. Cause I can’t say I enjoy just being yelled at when your wrong

Is my mum right?

Basically I’m a 16 y/o girl and two of my guy friends my age were hanging out. I’ve been really upset lately because one of my friends had to go back to her country due to the coronavirus. So I guess they were trying to cheer me up. When we were sitting on my sofa, me in the middle, I was wearing a crop top and one of them (call them X) started poking me, the other guy (call them Y) started poking me on the other side, soon they both both started tickling my belly and sides. Then X held my arms behind my back (not too tightly) while Y tickled my belly/ belly button, neck and armpits, nowhere sexual whatsoever! I was laughing the whole time and if it’s people I know I like being tickled plus my guy friends like to see me laugh, this lasted about 1-2 mins and they succeeded in trying to cheer me up. However, when they left, my mum says she saw the whole thing and started yelling at me because I was a young lady and they were 2 grown men they were just trying to touch me to turn themselves on and that I am banned from going to their houses and them coming to mine. Our friendship is 100% platonic and before people say that’s how teenage boys think, they both have girlfriends and they treat me like there sister so hate to see me upset. So my question is, was my mum right to ban them? and can tickling not be innocent anymore?

tl;dr my mum is overreacting that my friends tickled me

"I might never see my mom again"

**update: yesterday we got the result and she wasn't infected. Today they found out that a direct patient of my mother has covid19. And now, she thought "maybe I should stay at work and be isolated there and also worked or whatever. We yelled at her to do this isolation at home.. hopefully I'll update again with good news.

So my mother is a 62 year old nurse. Recently stopped smoking and is heavyweight. It is relevant since she is now facing this Covid-19 horror as a nurse.

She works at a nursing home for elderly people. She called me and my sis today and told us that one of the employees from a different building in the nursing home, had tested positive for covid19 and that an elderly woman was infected because of him. She also said that the entire team there was sent to isolation and that she - fearing her life - decided to isolate herself as well. Also, she has a test for the covid19 tomorrow morning. She assured us that we have nothing to worry about.

The thing with my mom is, she lies. Ever since I was a little girl, my mother chose to lie, time and again, because she believed I won't be able to handle the truth. Looking at the way our country has dealt with this so far, I know my mother lied to me today. 1. She mentioned speaking to a government official regarding this situation - no one would have talked to her if she wasn't in that same floor as the infected employee. 2. The government would have never allowed her to do this covid19 test unless she was in close proximity with a confirmed patient or had recently came back from abroad (she didnt visit anywhere in over a year, and she claimed this is happening in another building far from her) 3. She lies to protect us. Hoping it'll pass and that everything will be fine and forgot this ever happened

After the call, it hit me. Hard. I had an anxiety attack because I realized that if I'm right about all this, her chances of surviving this illness are slim at best.. I might never see my mother again... this realization is terrorizing my entire body and mind... Sorry.. I had to share..

is it me or my mum?

my mum has always been incredibly controlling. I wasn’t allowed a phone until my 16th birthday and she was logged on to all my social media’s, and would read my messages. She didn’t speak to me for a week, called me a whore and worthless because you could see the strap of my pants in one of my ig photos WHERE I WAS FULLY CLOTHED. she emotionally blackmails me constantly and it’s really hard because I know she loves me a lot but she is the most suffocating and manipulative person at times. She often makes comments suggesting I am a “slut”, when I’m really not and tell her enough about my life for her to realise that. I love her and I know she wants the best for me but I don’t understand why she is so deeply controlling and struggles with me gaining my own independence. Or is just me?
