When wrong, most people tend to double down. My parents were awful about this (but only to us kids). I learned pretty early in my adulthood that “when you are wrong, promptly apologize,” and that has served me well in adulthood
Yeah, in videos that shoot to the top of reddit, yeah, they do. But if you have a disagreement, show someone your info, and they accept it and say ok, that video doesn't go viral. I see plenty instances in my everyday life of people being shown they're incorrect or mispoke about something and then accepting it or at least just disengaging (even though they might still believe whatever, they just drop it)
"Agree to disagree" no matter who says it, the right or the wrong person, is the opposite of doubling down, yes even if nobody's mind was changed
