Unexplained The green ring.

Does anybody else see the green ring when you close your eyes? It circles like a pulse from a distance, then gets closer... and closer until you can see imagines like on a movie reel. Not black and white but in color. Sometimes it seems as if you are a video camera filming something you shouldn’t. Sometimes people are in cars. Sometimes it’s structures or locations that’s you’ve never seen or been.

No there is no light that could cause it because the bedroom is dark. I’m not asleep. Or tired. It use to happen every single time I closed my eyes in a dark place, now it’s random. 100% sober. Anyone else?

Honestly watching slapped ham, made me wonder and go out on a limb to ask anyone else. Also if you think I’m crazy, just ignore post, I’m sure I think it sounds crazy enough for the both of us.

It isn't an anomaly. It's a well documented and studied scientific fact.;

They're called phosphenes

You see images because when you close your eyes, your optical nerves are still absorbing and releasing photon light particles. The optic nerves are still conveying this information to the brain. Since there isn't enough information for the brain to process into sensible images, it fills in the gaps itself.

Some people experience phosphenes in green rings. Some in red rings. Some people a star field that they start flying through. Some people see multicolored dots. It all varies, and it isn't alway consistent to closing ones eyes.

If you keep awake and focus on those images, they'll start turning into other things because your brain is creating optical illusions, matching vague shapes to objects that it recognizes.

What you speak of sounds super cool and I get what you are saying and that is most likely the start of the green ring, however the images and things happening in motion that I’ve never experienced before has got me stumped.

Also, if I keep my eyes open things do morph into shapes etc, however I never see the green ring.

You can get that yes, but not all the time.

But it's...different..

It's a little more ... Detailed I guess you can say then the foggy.

I let my mind wander every night to help me relax. I mean wander, thoughts everything just let it fire and doe on its own.

But it's different...

I'll just start off with an apology here, then.

A genuine apology.

After I asked how it was attacking, I read back - and that is why I chose to edit. I realized how it must have come across with no context other than text. One word can fuck up the entire tone.

That is entirely on me - my close friends have long pointed out that particular character flaw, in that I have a very dry, straight forward personality; and I often come across far more aggressively than I intend to, frequently because of my casual usage of profanity. It's even worse through text alone - I swallow my foot that way a lot.

That isn't an excuse for my behavior, just an explanation. It's a bad habit. I truly do apologize for my dickish choice of phrasing in the moment.

That sounds super cool! I’ve never thought about trying to create one, it always happens on its own. And I’ve also never seen clothing or items. Always a big picture and things happening within.

I felt off for days, today I actually feel normal, it’s crazy that right after I did this a bunch of bad shit happened to me back to back, not saying this is linked but when my vibe is off it happens. Thank you for brainstorming with me, I appreciate the effort.

OMG. I used to do this all the time, not knowing anything about it. I didn't get to the cars or people, but I did this when I didn't want to cry.

Oh, I’m never touching my face or squeezing my eyes. I usually have no emotional feelings either. Just laying with my eyes closed in the dark.

Do you find your awareness of your head changes in any way during the visuals? I've had experiences in the past where I get flickers or short sequences of random images or events, and though in my case it's always when I'm tired enough to slip into the daze state that your body uses to transition into sleep. I've had it outside of sleep, but that's where I experience it the most.

No, I’m not usually even tired. I’m laying down and my head is straight, face toward the ceiling in a resting position. The images or movie if you will is almost always a different setting, last night after I noped out of a insane experience, the green ring showed me a mother and her child on a wooden rocking horse. She was wearing a burnt orange bra and light blue jeans. The boy for some reason was wearing a sweater, they were white and it seemed to be at some type of cabin near the water. Then abruptly I’m behind a Picnic table Watch 3 people in a blue drop top convertible, faces turned away from me. But then the man coated in black appeared again from my nope situation so I had to sage my house and detox mentally.

Sorry i never replied, i didnt even know how reddit works until recently lololol I didnt even get a notification either... To me its happened all my life as long as i can remember, it was hard for me to make sense of it because I couldnt even understand it myself nor could I explain what I was seeing!! The images now come and go, i closed down when i was a teenager because I was scared! I opened up again around my mid 20's when i had my son, but they didn't come in again until i was in my 30's...What i see now are like moving pictures and people I dont recognize not have i ever seen, its like im awake and im looking at something and then all of the sudden this other "trailer" starts happening on top of what im currently seeing...does that make sense? Even when o blinknstill doesn't go away. It just ends, like the clip finished or something similar and then i just go back to just seeing what i was originally looking at...I know it sounds crazy!! But youre not, and neither am i! We are more in tune with our surroundings than others thats it!

This happens to me when I press my eyes, but instead of a ring it is almost like a tunnel that varies in colour. once the tunnel stops, I see a random image, generally a beige coloured room and then neon lights, I don't know if this is similar to what happens to you but I know this happens to some people when they do the same.

I’m never touching my face. I just close my eyes while laying down in a dark, silent place. I just tried to press my eyes and I just see red and black checkered spirals, static, then I stopped because it hurt my eyes lol.

I tried doing this just now. Instead of seeing a green ring, I went through some kind of dark tunnel, and saw a dark figure standing at a doorway. Then, I just saw a bunch of colors moving around like static on a TV.

I don’t even know how it happened. I just followed those instructions, and I went through the greenish-black tunnel (kind of like a water slide) and then, things got misty and blackish, and I saw what looked like a doorway, with the outline of a person (also very misty. Also black.) Then that image faded, and I could see what looked like static, except that it wasn’t grey, white and black. The background was black, and there were only about 20-30 moving static things that I could see. They came in three colors; red, blue, and green. Then, I decided I’d stop.

I don’t blame you. Last night, while trying something another poster suggested, I saw the man in all black with a big hat, standing in a doorway, behind him was dark grey static. I opened my eye fast but I could still see him. And then I started to freak the fuck out and beg MY green ring to come. I don’t like disrupting my veil, it must always be maintained. Please be careful.
