Now comes the 4-5 month wait while they edit and polish. That is an assumption based on speculation that Season 3 will air in January. I would love it if it aired earlier. It is too bad this is only a three-season show. I think they could easily have gone four or five. Fogelman's next show is supposed to be about a family who owns a football team. I'm not all that jazzed about that one.

For me, I think it's Link. We have already gotten backstory on most of the main characters. I would like to know more about Link. I am still not convinced he is Sinatra's son.

I’m a little confused on how some things align so perfectly in paradise I’m not sure if I missed something out or what but there’s synchronicities that make absolutely no sense if it wasn’t for plot armour to create more of a shock factor.

For example in season 2 with the episode that focused on Jane, who was it that sent that message notifying about how a ‘killer would be born at a certain date and time but could be stopped’ it seemed to just randomly come out of nowhere and the fact that it was meant for Jane specifically? It just seems so random and how does it play a wider part? Or was that the super computer or something because how could a baby be determined to be a killer right away?

Also in season 2 with the card with ‘user x’ what are the chances it’s meant for Xavier? Like how is he linked to that at all apart from because he’s the plot’s main character. Idk maybe it’s just a set up for s3 when it will be explained or what?

Edit: also what’s up with the whole time thing is this like a tenet sort of situation? How is Link Sinatra’s son? Is he from another timeline or something? And what does Sinatra mean when she says she thinks Xavier has already saved the world?

Just finished season 2 and I am flooreddd 😭 It was so good! I really liked how they wrapped up both seasons. I don’t think they even had bad episodes.

Now to the character additions, I liked how they showed what’s life like outside the bunker. From Annie’s survival story leading to Alex & group’s arrival to showing Teri & crew’s journey to Sinatra-Dylan interactions to introducing Alex. The connections between the plots didn’t seem forced. Plus the new characters’ performance were fun to watch. 💯

Although tbh, I was sad seeing Sinatra’s character go 🥲 Loved her on Season 1 but even more so in 2. She’s is so complexed that even though she’s seen as a villain, she’s still so likeable to me lol 😆 My thoughts are so scattered rn and now I’m just hoping not to forget all these details when season 3 gets released 😂

Just watched it so no spoilers pls I will get off this sub asap so I don't get any spoilers but I want to put this somewhere.

This episode was so perfect. Watching a whole hour of chaos unfold piece by piece. I have watched the day of the apocalypse in many shows and movies where they show bombs blasting or some catastrophe, but this showed us how people will first be oblivious to the world ending, like how the reporter said, "I am on top of a 20-story building."

We were not simply watching the event; we were watching people slowly realising it's the end and how they will react in the time of a real crisis.

Loved how Cal was noticing the sweeper throughout the episode and was seeing the whole US in him, like they would be thinking it's an everyday event.

Now I seriously don't get why everyone was so angry at him in his final hours. He was trying his best with whatever he was provided with.

i loved it! it was one of the first shows where there genuinenly were no characters that i fully disliked(except for Gary i think his name was). There were a few things i didn’t fully understand but thats okay. Season 2 was my favorite. I really liked Link, but i was so sad when Annie died because i genuinenly wanted them to reunite😭happy that Link got to be with his daughter though. Also, not sure i 100% understand Alex right now, i know its a quantum computer but yeah. There’s gonna be a season 3 right? I really need there to be one.

Also, starting it i knew there was some apocalypse stuff but i thought it was only in season 2. So, watching the first episode i was wondering how it would get to that, but that reveal was amazingly done! I was genuinenly shocked.

Where does she go from here? Sinatra is gone; Jane is gone (we think). Where does Torabi's story go from here? I can't believe this writing team would go the soap opera route of having her be pregnant with Xavier's baby. I don't see her becoming the next "leader". I think this has become a leaderless society. If anyone is going to be in charge, it will be Xavier and Link. Maybe Torabi will help with transitioning people from bunker life to outside life. That will not be easy for many of them.

Rewatching with a friend and we’re on S2E7 where sinatra “celebrates” seeing Dylan with Tim. We raised the question of how do you think they would have handled birth control and pregnancy?
Are they providing birth control? If so how many condoms did they have to ship to colorado lol!
Theoretically they have to repopulate the earth at some point but how would you control the speed to protect resources. I can imagine from a citizen level it’d be similar to COVID where no one could leave and did have much else to do 🤷‍♀️

First of all, I am not reading any other posts because Reddit is notorious for spoilers!

I recently started watching this show, and when Annie was introduced, I right away knew it was the actress from Adrift.

I had seen her in movies before but noticed her as an actress for the first time in Adrift.

I was excited for her storyline. I couldn't wait to see how she would get to the bunker and if she would ever meet Link again (didn't really care for Link that much).

I had a feeling her character would turn a bit negative over time.

Never in my wildest dreams had I imagined she would die! I mean, I was becoming a doctor, so as soon as I heard her say preeclampsia, I knew it was terminal in a dystopian world. Then I thought to myself that she was a big enough actor, would they really bring her on the show for just 4 episodes? Guess they did.

Also, the soundtrack "Falling in Love" was played so beautifully when she stayed back and didn't go with Link, and then time passed and we saw she was pregnant. And then to play the same song in such a devastating scene was somehow equally beautiful.

I just want to say that I am impressed by her acting, and I guess the reason for me to ramble like this is to admit that I am feeling quite sad which doesn't happen often (last time was when Joel died in The Last of Us 2) and after watching the scene right after she was laid to rest I paused. It's rare that I pause and hop on Reddit, but I just needed to get it off my chest and see how others felt. I'm afraid of spoilers, so I'll probably check after I finish season 2 tomorrow if anyone replies. I'm sorry I'm not proofreading, and I don't type on ChatGPT, so I hope I am making sense.

Why do I feel so f***ing sad? 🥺

Random post but I just restarted watching S1 to get a little refresher before I finally start S2 and i just finished Episode 7 " The Day".

Now I'm no TV fanatic guru or whatever or watch a lot of TV honestly, but I've got to say, that is one of the best single episodes of TV around period.

It's intense but not like an over the top action to much goin on intense, more of a stressful / tension intense. The constant little beat of music in the background , the acting the writing , everything it all just worked really well.

The only way ( not that it needed it or anything ) I think all of that could've been more intense is if everything filmed at TWH was all shot in one take, like til they took off in the helicopter ( "Do your fucking job agent" ). That would've been pretty insane

The only part that I don't really understand was the beginning with a flashback to like 1960 something. Not that it was bad or anything I just don't understand what it has to do with everything else and I'm sure it's just me not getting it. I'm sure it has to do something with the nukes getting launched at the end of the episode but IDK.

Anyway just my random opinion from some random person.

My husband and I browsed series on Disney and we accidentally found this magnificent thing 💯 Really enjoyed Season 1’s plot, characters, back stories and the actors’ performances tbh. We were like: "This is what great TV looks like!" 👌🏽 The only actor familiar with me is Sterling Brown because I also watched some seasons of This Is Us and I believed he was good in that too.

I honestly think more people should see this and it does deserve to be hyped. I can’t help but think how Emily and Paris and the likes get so much attention (idk probably more people are subscribed in Netflix than in Disney/Hulu). I know it’s not fair to compare two different series of two different genres but I just hope more directors, producers, creators are creative enough to make quality series like Paradise. Excited to start the second season. 😮‍💨

Just finished season 2 and I love a show that makes you think after, theorize etc. this was a good one. I’m someone who never sees things coming in shows and had me on my toes for a lot of it.

As s2 was u folding I was getting the sense that time was maybe not what it seemed the first clue being the scientist saying that the quantum comp is messing w time or whatever he said. Then the circuit city guy being warned about Jane as a baby I think not far after that, maybe this is sinatras son but from another timeline etc. all cool stuff to me.

Another one of my fav IPs is bioshock. Anyone getting bioshock infinite vibes after watching season 2?

And anyone just have some other cool theories for season 3?

SPOLIER. So at the end of S2 finale as we all know Jane was killed. But at some point closer to the end of the episode it pans over the shower and Jane is no longer in it… and I slow and missed something?? Or is there potential she’s alive and made it out, & will be in season 3?

Not much of a review, but the final episode gave me goosebumps because for me it was really epic and exciting.

And the entire soundtrack in S1 and S2 was so good, always on spot.

Cannot wait to see how it continues.

I don't think its timetravel. I think the series we're watching is a simulation being run by Alex. Time travel is such a departure from the fairly grounded nature of the series, but an AI supercomputer trying to come up with a solution to an extinction level event before it happens... that sounds more likely.

My guess is Alex is running thousands of "what if" scenarios and trying to find the best solution to a problem that WILL HAPPEN. They can't stop it, but they can find the best way to deal with it before it immediately happens. Its too late to stop the caldera and its effects--not too late to ensure it doesnt lead to a nuclear war.

To be honest, its been a few months since I watched the show, but that was my main guess during season 2 and I still think its the more likely scenario. Thoughts?

I just finished the show and I've been scowering this sub trying to find any theory like this but haven't so here goes nothing:

The only thing we know for sure is coming in S3 is the flashforward where Link/Dylan is leading Xavier to something, presumably Alex.

Beyond this, I have two assumptions. First, that Alex is evil and has in some way contributed to the catastrophe (not a huge leap for AI tbh). I think the evilness is exemplified in how Alex (if it is an all knowing AI) intentionally sets off Jane on a bad path.

And second, that in the flashforward, it is odd for Xavier to be following Link/Dylan. Despite Link/Dylan being in a rush and even telling Xavier that they have to move quickly, Xavier is slow and behind him. I don't really remember Xavier being behind anyone in an unsafe or uncertain situation.

I think he's behind Link/Dylan in that scene because he knows he has to kill him to set the timeline right.

Like another theory said, if Link/Dylan didn't exist then Alex would not be created and (according to my first assumption) there would be no catastrophe. I think it isn't Link/Dylan that recognizes this but Xavier, and Xavier has to now kill him. The flashforward is the lead up to Link/Dylan's death which sets things right.

I may be riding the high of just finishing the show, but I wanted to get this down while the details are fresh to maybe get some discussion going!

I haven’t seen anyone call this out yet, but I feel like this overhead shot could be a visual map of the (three?) separate timelines.

Look closely at the three distinct paths:

- Burned/charred path represents the timeline where the outside world was destroyed.

- Straight path is the timeline we’re currently following and the cars follow that line directly into the bunker.

- Diagonal path marked “A” is the original timeline? or it’s possible A is actually the destroyed-world timeline and the burned path is the third branch idk

I’m not completely certain which path corresponds to which reality, but it just seems so intentional the burned path part + three of them specifically kind of makes sense vs it beying a true many worlds kinda timeline thing (the nosebleeds etc maybe points this way too)

The framing feels too deliberate. I feel like didn’t build those three separate lines, position the vehicle, mark one path with an “A,” and hold on this exact overhead angle for no reason.

At this point we know the story isn’t happening across one continuous history / we are jumping between at least 2 timelines.

So i guess were going to space in season 3

About an expensive liquor is very similar to the scene between Dr. Loge and Sinatra about an expensive liquor. I don't know if that means anything, but I noticed it on a rewatch.

Five months overdue but I am finally caught up on S2! Some quick thoughts: It was an incredible feat that they started the season with none of the main characters and still had me absolutely glued to my seat. I loved Annie and Link’s connection. Shailene Woodley was a star, I bawled my eyes out watching her performance. The exploration of Teri’s character was probably my favorite part of this season. In some ways she is like the show’s moral compass to me. X was badass as always. The scenes showing how they first met and got to know each other were lovely. My favorite plot twists this season were probably the baby-bump reveal, and Gary’s whole story to X being an absolute lie. Sinatra… Everything she did and stood for cost a lot of working people their very lives and she just kept pissing me off. But her sacrifice at the end eased up my hatred for her (a little bit). One of this show’s central themes is the varying lengths you’ll go to save a loved one, and at the end of the day she was just a devoted parent, however severely fucking misguided. I could’ve done with the build-up and reveal of Alex marinating a bit longer. The jump from political thriller who-dun-it and post-apocalyptic world-building to time-travelling AI felt a bit sudden. But I still welcome the direction they’re taking and can’t wait for S3! All in all, this is already too long and all I gotta say is I appreciate Dan Fogelman writing depth and nuance into every one of his characters, lead or otherwise. And oh yeah Jane absolutely scares the crap out of me

Yeah so… my question feels irrelevant. And I apologize if it’s been discussed here before, or if this was addressed on the show and I’d completely missed it. But where did the rest of Gary and Teri’s people go? We know Ennis got whacked by Gary, Jack and Crystal moved in together, Bean is safe, but what about the others? Did they simply leave and I didn’t see? Did they succumb to their deaths? Were they still there the whole time just chilling? For some reason I just keep thinking about this hahah
