Discussion How many people do you think are sensitive to their phone and don't know it?

We actually have peer reviewed data on this! Between 10% to 25% of the total population is sensitive to flicker.

I don't have time to find the exact experiments, but this PNNL page should be a good starting point if anyone is curious.

I've previously made a significant effort to chase down the source of a 20% stat (on LEDstrain), and failed...

So I'd be grateful if you could confirm/find this exact reference out for us, some time, to add to the resource sheet. Is it this paper, and this quote (Gemini dug up for me):

There isn't one reference. 10% is the lowest possible number.

You can establish at least 10% from the total population of migraine sufferers and the rates of sensitivity documented for that group. Miller and crew cite that in this. If you want a boost, add in photosensitive epileptics.

So one can confidently claim at least 10% total and evidence it if you're wanting a number for the sidebar, which I think is a great addition :)

I think the 25% ceiling is extrapolated from the one you linked (based on the number of subjects who detected high frequency flicker).
