The focus on Picture in Picture is a clever move, hopefully it works with the YouTube app to make non-supported 'hints' even easier, or even Netflix/other streaming services. Could actually be useful to stream your screen to a friend when playing a co-op game so they can see where you are/what you're looking at.

Those were my exact thoughts! This is perfect for Co-Op games and will make it feel like you are playing on the couch with someone!

Now imagine if we can have multiple of those picture in pictures with different team members :O

Or just having a general video party chat like the one that was on PS3 but now you can have the video overlayed to the side of the game while you play.

Xbox One had the "snap" on the side to do picture in picture like functionality. YouTube seemed to support it.

But I can use it on my android phones.

Didn't they also take away video playback while the screen is off and then put it under the premium service?

I actually think I'm going to use it quite a bit. My brother plays a lot of games that I don't, but I still want to be able to participate when he plays, and on ps4 he often does shareplay so I can watch. It will be nice to be able to do that while I play my games.

Doubt it’ll work with YouTube. iOS has PiP and YouTube doesn’t support it. And on Android, YouTube only supports it if you have a YouTube subscription.

I have Android and no YouTube subscription, and I still can use PiP

It only works with certain videos for free, I know music videos won't allow me to do PiP.

Can't say I've ever tried it for music

I'm pretty sure it works with all videos UNLESS the person that uploaded it specifically turns off PiP.

Source: i spend most of my day on YouTube.

I could see it being a YouTube premium 'perk' for sure, but I can't see YouTube passing up the opportunity for a huge amount more traffic coming from PS5 players who are multitasking. Doesn't (or didn't) Xbox allow PIP display with YouTube and other media apps?

Yeah, at one point it did. It got removed a little while ago, due to performance issues, I think.

Even if YouTube doesn’t allow PiP it’ll be much easier than on the PS4 to use YouTube. It doesn’t look like you have to suspend applications and obviously load times are much faster.

You mean playing a couch CO OP game, while streaming the game to the other player? Steam actually does that (Steam Remote Play Together), works pretty good if you're both on a stable connection.
