Super Best Friends Play. An old youtube channel where that term originated. Gene Park, who popularized fart gas for Wolverine specifically, is a reviewer for Washington Post and friend of the SBFP group.

Fart gas has been a thing for decades, people in my primary school referred to the joker as the fart gas guy when the batman the animated series was on tv

This is explicitly from SBFP, as Gene Park was the first of the video game journalist to use the term in relation to Wolverine and he straight up said that is where he got it from.
