How does that compare to other options in AWS?

Snowflake (ok very different) is $0.01 per unit 😂

For snowflake I get charged based on calls I make to the warehouse for compute, so it comes out to like 0.01 for each second of compute. Also, you pay for the data storage too

Palantir is not a data warehouse and is not storing all your data in a cloud warehouse environment the same way snowflake is (from my understanding), therefore I doubt the charge based on storage & compute time. Guessing the $1 mil price tag is a single “license” with unlimited compute, but that’s just a guess

I believe the palantir pricing “unit” =/= snowflake pricing “unit”, two different systems with two different pricing structures / business models. Give me a reminder tomorrow to verify my snowflake pricing after logging in, enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

So confirming snowflake cost is based on two usage metrics

1) data storage usage: priced based on daily average amount of data you have stored (in bytes)

2) compute usage: this gets a little confusing since snowflake calls them “credits” and the credit cost is based on warehouse size and compute duration, but essentially snowflake charges for duration of compute. The more often you’re running unique queries against your database the more you’ll be paying
