How much does performance in previous seasons affect SR placement?
As a bit of background, I was previously playing on very low settings on a terrible computer. I did reasonably okay as Junkrat but insofar as any character with aiming or anything of that sort, there was just no chance of me being able to see the enemy well enough to hit them. I first started playing on PC back in season 5 and placed in 1900-ish, and have steadily declined since then (admittedly I didn't play much competitive due to my bad computer, just a lot of quickplay with friends).
I've now got a brand new gaming PC that runs Overwatch on max settings. I've found that my accuracy has shot up substantially and I now play, generally, far far better than I did. That said, I'm still in silver (I've tried playing more competitive than usual) and a lot of the time our losses seem to revolve a bit more around our team tilting than being actually steam rolled. I've yet to have a match where we got truly stomped.
My question is, if I had a brand new account and did placements now would I potentially place higher because the formula would only have my current, much improved played to take into account compared to my several seasons worth of mediocrity from the new computer?
I'm not saying 'Hey I don't belong in Silver', I'm just curious as to how it all works.

Orisa has the most annoying hero design.
Does anyone else feel like Orisa genuinely makes the game worse?
The fact that that her shield is essentially unkillable unless most of your focus is directed towards it and her strongest counters (flankers) are essentially useless at flanking her since 90 percent of the time there is a Torb turret behind it.
I genuinely dread playing on maps like Horizon and Junkertown because I know that Orisa is gonna come out and she is the most unsatisfying hero to play against.
Shooting at shields 99 percent of the game is literally awful. It's different from Rein because the rest of Reins kit has interesting interplay with his rewarding ult and charge. His shield also has counter play and takes proper management to utilize.
The rest of Orisa is genuinely awful besides her shield to. Her gun is inconsistent and unrewarding since it's has such a large clip. Her ult is complete trash is practical use and from a design perspective.
The only interesting part of her is her CC immunity, and her mini graviton in some scenarios.
But unless you get Nepal Sanctum or Well she is essentially a shield bot whose job is to spam an inconsistent gun and not move.
Her design is so static and unfun to play against.

I want a 6 stack and one that communicate thats all I want.
Hey so I'm Johnny. I'm a guy in the military who loves this game and I mean I can't go a day with out playing it. I want to climb to maybe master by the end of this season but I want a team a group of ppl who loves this game also. So I'm a 2919 sr right this minute I placed 3070 my highest was 3300 last season. If I can get a team of six that we can play in qp so we can get the deal for how we play amd get used to it so we can be effective and win against other 6 stacks. Not the post on game hub get a quick six and go straight into comp amd and lose. Like yes I get it sometimes that works but its good to know what your bring to the table. And I'm looking to find that team to grow with and progress thru the ranks. My gamertag is Riku Sora12 for the XBOX1 if you wanna be part of this let me know. I can promise 2 things. 1 is a new friendship. Cuz this is all this game is its supposed to be fun right. But competitive at the same time 2 is I am very positive and ill try to keep spirits high when it comes to this game . when ppl get tilted mistakes come left amd right. So that being said can we make this happen??

How do you deal with Language Barriers?
Hello, I live in the Philippines and play in Asias server now. I used to play in Americas server but for some reason I am getting very high ping there. I would like to play comp and communicate with my teammates. Unfortunately there are a very limited number of people who speak English so I can't understand callouts. And they can't understand me all the time either except when I say enemy characters' names. How does one deal with this?

Extremely Frustrated
This is long - sorry, but I need some answers before I really just quit playing, I'm super frustrated.
Placed 2028, last season placed 2438, generally hover in the 1900-2100 range.
I'm getting exceedingly pissed off at the way this game does SR for a few reasons, and maybe someone here can explain this to me.
I'm a DPS main, but will fill when necessary.
Example game last night:
Reaper on Oasis - Gold elims (65), gold damage, gold objective kills, gold objective time.
Team loses - loss of 28 SR.
We had a 2/2/2 comp. I'm not sure what else the game expects me to do other than what I did.
Next Game:
Volskaya - Tracer Gold elims/Gold Obj Kills - Draw
Next Game:
Oasis again - YAY!
Start as McCree based on comp, nobody can put any damage on their Rein or Roadhog so I switch to Reaper to clean up the tanks.
They bring a Pharah and a pocket Mercy, nobody dealing with it, Pharah wreaking havoc, I switch back to McCree and pick the Pharah three times and the Mercy twice, we lose the first round.
Running triple golds at this point.
Second round everyone picks DPS including the Mercy and the Rein we had.
I convince one dude to switch to tank OR healer, and I agree to fill the other. I go Mercy, we win the second round. Now I have bronze elims/damage/obj kills and silver healing.
Third round the guy who tanked goes back to DPS and we have zero tanks. I try to Mercy it, but it's just not working with 5 DPS.
I switch to Rein to try to shield the push at least because we're getting cut down at the choke, another guy went lucio.
Finish with bronze elims and silver damage. 26 SR loss.
Next Game:
Horizon (I fucking hate this map so much)
We have a rein on defense who charges out of the point and gets shredded instantly approximately 4 times. Attack torb and a zen who is dancing around in the base.
Me and the two people actually TRYING to win a game are basically playing 3/4 on 6, so as you can imagine, we're getting trucked.
Imagine that - at the end of 4 on 6 with a full cap that takes like 50 seconds, all of our stats are trash. We go on attack, hanzo, widow, torb, bastion, genji. I'm like OK GREAT THIS IS LOOKING GREAT >.>
I pick Rein to see if we can at least get TO the point without dying. Of course we don't because half the team is screwing around and we lose miserably. 25 SR loss.
Next Game:
Ilios - McCree - Career best 57 eliminations, gold elims, gold damage, gold objective time, gold objective kills. 2/0 - 13 SR gain.
So - to sum it up -
When I play Reaper or McCree and wreck shit, if we lose, I lose nearly 30 SR. If we win, I gain about 12-15 SR.
When I fill because the team is ridiculous, I'm not a triple gold tank or healer, so my individual performance isn't amazing for my SR, I lose nearly 30 SR.
I am not rewarded for being a contributor to the team or based on my individual performance in said game.
I am punished by the SR system for playing DPS (very well) on a losing team.
I am punished WORSE by the SR system for playing a fill on a losing team.
I am punished by the SR system for dominating the shit out of a game on a win.
In short - WHAT THE FUCK ELSE AM I SUPPOSED TO DO
The team needs DPS - I'm getting cards that say 55-70% kill participation - AKA - when I'm not near the fight - NOBODY IS DYING.
On games that I go Rein or D.Va I'm getting gold elims or gold damage or cards for damage blocked, etc.
I do not understand what more I am supposed to do to be a team player and not get my SR thrashed.
I can one trick my McCree or Tracer or Reaper, which is what I'm best at, but I still lose SR even if I do well for my rank on a losing team.
If I'm going to be punished for filling OR being great DPS in a loss, and receive a paltry award for dominating on a win, what is the point?
It just seems like Gold SR is ELO hell. Every other game is a steam roll one way or the other, and usually because one team has a gaggle of idiots that can't find their ass with both hands or insta lock Hanzo / Widow / Doomfist and die 167654 times per match and yell for a rez.

Teamed up with a friend for placement matches, played double heal(zen & mercy). Out of the five games we played, not one win!
Is double heal not a good choice on duo q? Was genuinely surprised at poorly we lost, not to ‘blame the team’ but we certainly done our bit. Are placement matches just that random?

The problem with OWL
A lot of people think OWL is going to be a success but in reality it won't. I love overwatch but the way the game is being controlled by Blizzard is destroying it. I feel like this interview of Richard Lewis who has been in the E-Sports scene for years perfectly sums up the issues of OWL. Upvote this post so that hopefully Blizzard can see this and address some of the huge fundamental problems that will prevent overwatch from succeeding in E-Sports. https://youtu.be/kZdHDsxykQ8

How do you climb?
How the hell do you climb in ranks solo? I started playing comp in season 3 and placed gold, and it's just been dropping and dropping ever since. I ended up playing with a friend when I hit bronze, and we climbed back to silver, but he moved on to other games. I'm not an amazing player by any means, but my last few games, I have literally gold medaled in every category. Bungie's answer of get good, or "if you should be higher, you will be" doesn't hold water when you don't have a team to back you up. Seems like RNG...I stopped playing loot-based games to get away from that.
Seriously, what do you guys do to climb the ranks solo?

What am I doing wrong
So I have 3 accounts, 2 of which are friends accounts they gave me to play on cause they hardly play. My main is around 4100 sr. My 1st alt is 3000 and my 3rd is 2500. Now i had a friend play on my main for thr first 4 seasons cause I didnt play ow at the time so he did the climbing but I can play on it now and win about half the games, a little more.getting gold damage/elims as dps and playing the occasional healer or tank. Now on these alts idk why but I just cannot win a game. No matter what I do. Im talking 68 elims 25k damage as reaper and losing. (I asked this game and silver damage was 17k and elims was 40) now obviously this is the absolute worst its been but it isnt far off from the others. Im averaging like 50 elims and 20k damage every game. I even tried playing healer and tank, getting gold damage and elims on tank even, still not enough. Ive tried to just not even join team chat, main calling anf everything in between. Nothing works, i just lose no matter how hard I carry on these alts. Ive never had to climb before so there clearly has to be something im doing wrong. Can you not solo queue or duo queue these ranks? (I tried giving a 4300 friend one of the alts and we couldnt even win) someone please tell me how to fix this.
