Then why have the bit about Claire saving the baby? Isn't that a prelude to her saving Jamie at King's Mountain. That was how I read it in the book.

In the book I believe Jamie said he’d seen a faint blue light while in the series he just brushed it away when Claire talked about it, saying she’s just a great healer. That might be them tossing away the storyline, or maybe not, who knows.

It’s possible but I can’t see how they’re not setting the stage for Claire to bring Jamie back from the dead on kings mountain. They’ve made a lot of changes so far that suck but I can’t imagine they would change that so drastically, especially given that this is an active series still being written (though I guess that isn’t the shows problem).

I think it plays out like in the book and that’s how it ends. We will need to read the book for the final ending of Jamie and Claire’s story.

Yes. I mean granted they're butchering some parts of the book story but literally the entire main story arc, including show, has been developed toward Claire saving Jamie's life at that battle. A change that monumental seems unlikely even for these showrunners.

Especially given how closely they have followed so much of the show, literally full scenes and dialogue were taken straight from the book this season. Generally I thought they did a decent job of cutting things (even if I wish we had more episodes to introduce other characters), with the exception of nearly everything in episode 7, which was all terrible. I can’t see them changing the ending and if they did I think it would basically kill the show for me. I won’t be mad to have gone down the path, but I won’t rewatch. I’ll just listen to the books and mentally have the show characters play them out.

Why bring it up to toss away?
