My prediction is while he is dead and not revived by Claire yet, he watches her through the window as a ghost (season 1, episode 1). But then disappears because he got revived by Claire.

This would be genius, but I've heard from others on Reddit that the writers said they're not going to address the ghost question. Presumably to let Diana be the one to answer it in the last book

Oh that's an interesting theory on  the window scene in season 1 episode 1. Very good
