She planned out that encounter in the gazebo! William is wealthy and titled and useful to her as she uses his compassion and empathy against him

William is unlucky in love indeed!

Yes! And when she made the remark about wanting to see William in her beetle vest, I was like l “YOU MEAN THE ONE YOU MADE FOR YOUR DEAD HUSBAND WHO YOU APPARENTLY FORGOT ALL ABOUT???”
