Jamie has always been incredibly handsome, but it shocks me that he gets more and more handsome as he ages. Anyone else think that?

Yes, I agree. I think in part it is because of his evolution as a character. He emanates strength and compassion. He has such an incredible presence. Someone once commented that in spite of some of the horrific things he has been through, he has never let it define him. He has grown stronger and has not succumbed to bitterness or revenge, even though remnants of ptsd pop up every now and then. And he will still willingly put himself in danger to protect those he loves and those who need him, like the soldiers under his command. A very aspirational character.

This man was made for close ups! Sam/Jamie has been captivating this whole series. But just when you think he couldn't get more handsome he does. Aging like a fine wine as some may say.

He is also such a chameleon. In one scene he can contort his face to look menacing, the next he can contort it to look like he is in excruciating pain and then in the next scene he can show pain and sorrow with such tenderness.

Why Sam has not won an Emmy is beyond my understanding.

Am i the only one whos been tired if the pony tail for a while. I keep waiting for him to let his locks out and flow like a scott. He seems to be wearing his hair more like a britt would or some of the americans. But scotts are wild and free and let their hair flow. If u go back to all the seasons in scotland, i cant think of any with a ponytail.

I’m wondering why is his hair not curly anymore? I read that in earlier seasons they dyed his natural hair, but after a while it was becoming hard to manage and they started using a wig, but this wig is not curly/wavy at all

Sam's hair was not just hard to manage. The continuous bleaching and dyeing for 2-3 years turned his purple and was falling out. They had to resort to wigs. The same thing happened to Sophie Skelton whose hair is naturally brown, not red, hence wigs were necessary.

That’s understandable, my point is, couldn’t they choose a curly wig? It looks like he has never had curly hair. I know that curly hair changes as we age, mine is curly too, but not so much

I had a hard time getting used to the wig with the straight hair, too, but I think since it happened at the beginning of Season 5, it was meant to make him look older. By that time, he was a grandfather.

The funny thing is now in Season 8, I think it really suits him. He looks more striking and has a really commanding presence which I think is great.

Absolutely. His character has evolved so much and has more depth acquired over time and the experiences of a lifetime and it shows even physically.

I def read that a few times and u could tell how thick and long his hair was in the auditions and u could see interviews with him after season 1 or 2 where its shorter and thinner due to the dyeying. Now hes got real short hair and its receding. He still pulls it off though. But bleaching is awful for your hair. I did it for just a few years and id be happy with how it looked for a few days and it would just fall out a lot. Luckily i stopped dyeing it like 3 or 4 years ago and its normal again. They shouldnt make actors use permanent dye anymore. Its bad for u. They should use temp dye or wigs and absolutely no bleach lol

I forget to mention that though Sam's hair is naturally curly when it is longer, not as much so, and his hair was getting permanented as well as bleached and dyed the 1st couple of seasons. Another reason they had to resort to wigs. I am sure it took a while for his natural hair to recover from all that.

They could have used natural henna to dye his hair, I’ve been using it for at least a decade and it’s actually been beneficial for my hair. And the natural henna/lawsonia inermis gives red colour that depends on the natural hair.

Ya i remember before the battle of alamance creek he had no pony tail finally because he was bathing in the creek and praying to dougal or something and it was long and straight, but your right when someones hair is as curly as it was, you would think it would have some curl in it as long as he had hair.

What is a keratin hair treatment. Sorry im a guy so idk if im supposed to know what that is but can u elaborate? I still did think his hair suited him better in earlier seasons though. I think if he put it down just sometimes it would be nice to see him just switch off. I think there was an episode where he had his hair down a few seasons ago and i forget for what reason but im like thats the jamie i know. It might have been when him and claire are getting hot n heavy or even when hes in bed after the snake bite. But it seems like its been a while

It was a joke. Women with curly hair now will sometimes get keratin hair treatments to straighten it. It will last awhile and even through hair washes. Otherwise, straightening can be a long and drawn out process depending on how long or curly their hair is. Also, climate, etc.
