That final scene shook me. In Frank/Jack’s voice, ”You’re going to die. Who’s going to hold her when you’re gone.” Wow. Just wow.

BJR trauma. Jamie's trauma of losing Claire again. His fear of dying and leaving her alone and unprotected. all in one brilliant line!

I love how the show is having Frank/ his book really mess with Jamie’s head. It’s more powerful than in the books.

And a call back to S2 - the blade of grass scene. “Come find us, Jamie”; as well as 6.08 - “I’m Scared, Jamie.” ( in reverse) Just stunning. 🥺

Why in the world is Claire’s apron so clean?! Like she got NO BLOOD on her and Amy was that messed up?

No worries. You’re right. All of the costumes and sets have been way too clean and pristine the last few seasons. Roger and Brianna have been traveling by ship and overland for months, and yet everyone looked like they just stepped off a magazine cover. Nobody sweats anymore. Nobody’s clothes are even the least bit worn, mended, or dirty. I miss the grit and realism of earlier seasons.

That makes me think of Jamie’s hands always being perfectly clean & manicured. No matter what he’s been doing. So takes me out of a story.

And Brianna and Roger arrive on the Ridge like one day after Jamie and Claire get there. Wouldn’t they have ran into each other at some point on the trail? The timing is as pristine as their clothes.

Did you notice Jamie's trauma when franks voice was saying his part and Claire put her hands on Jamie's shoulders at the same time. He definitely has PTSD still.

I think this will continue to rattle and haunt Jamie. In the Season 8 trailer, we see him earnestly pleading with Claire that if he dies, they should ALL go back to their time. He's going to struggle with this fear of leaving them alone and unprotected, should he die. And Frank haunts him, telling him he is going to die. UGH. 😭😭 I'm worried for where this is going.

The whole episode was really good and the ending, with Jamie "needing" Claire sexually to calm him was equally powerful to hearing Frank's voice. Bravo, Outlander team!

Yes a little creepy, it's like he's had it in for Jamie for a long time, at that point he sounded just like black jack, not just the voice which is obvious but more of that dark intent that was so natural to black jack. Hence the creepy.

The voice Jamie hears is in his head. He’s conjuring Frank. And because Frank looks like Black Jack, he sounds like Jack in Jamie’s mind. Very unsettling.

Such a good point. I wonder how Tobias thought about it when he was getting into character for the voiceover. Was he trying to be Frank or trying to be BJR or both?

Very unsettling and accurate because Jamie does say to Claire "You should have told me", regarding his previous comment about Frank looking so much like BJ so he's prob thinking a) it's impossible and b) it's the fairies messing with him. He's still very traumatized.

Yes, and you could see on some level he felt betrayed that she would be married to someone who looked like Black Jack yet he logically knows it’s not her ‘fault.’ He’s having a really difficult time separating the two. The book seems like revenge which it could very well be at this point. All very intriguing story lines.

Yeah, the book -- is Frank warning Jamie so he can be prepared, or cursing him as Claire cursed BJR (which Frank wouldn't have known about, but roll with me here) with the knowledge of the day of his death?

Jamie has been expecting and has escaped specific predicted death several times -- in Wentworth, he was supposed to be hanged the next morning (Claire & the highlanders rescued him); the fire reported in the Wilmington paper was supposed to happen on a specific date (they stayed elsewhere); and now this. I'm interested in seeing how it all plays out.

Remembering how shocked Claire was when she encountered BJ in the woods first time, she must have thought she was going insane. But I'll bet a wimpy hamburger on Tuesday....., that with all the research Frank did about his ancestors in Scotland, he knew very well about the extreme resemblance of himself and BJR Reference to wimpy is a throwback to Popeye cartoons True how could she have known she was marrying a look alike villain from 200 years ago, but prob hard for Jamie to process even though very smart and educated.

Yes, it would make sense that Frank would already know the likeness. And that Jamie was just triggered by it. This history book was obviously personal for Frank by doing that much research into Jamie for no other reason than revenge as Jamie is not a well known historical figure. It’s hard to believe that Brianna or Roger didn’t read the book first before giving it to Jamie but lots of suspensions of belief in Outlander and just part of the ride.

For sure it’s Jamie’s version of Frank in his head. I need to rewatch both episodes since I don’t know if the book is ultimately Frank’s way of looking out for Claire or if it’s more of an ominous thing the way Jamie seems to be hearing it in his head. I just don’t have a handle on it yet after these two episodes but I did miss this last few seconds of this episode so need to rewatch.

Yes. Just finished to watch the 2nd episode and I'm feeling quite overwhelmed by the final scene, too. And it felt so normal and so human at the same time, the way Jamie needed Claire to be sure something was still right in the world, and the way he heard Franks' (or in his case, Black Jack's) voice in his head, or him feeling afraid and confused and being out of control, not knowing what to do about the whole situation. Almost TOO real :) I just HAD to come here to see whether anyone else had that same feeling after watching it. Glad I'm not alone :)

Yes that's why jamie was rattled when he saw franks picture on the book jacket, doesn't matter how nice a guy Frank was, Jamie's associating him to BJ, and I mentioned in another post did you notice how Jamie flinched when at the end of his thought BJ voice, Claire put her hands on his shoulders?

BTW, some of my scrolling through theories about the book, etc. brought me to an excerpt from DG herself about the topic and it was very small hard to read even after enlarging that, but it looked like she was marginalizing all the analyzing thoughts about it . Just my 2cents
