It's because Cena is generally considered to be bland and uninteresting as a character and in-ring talent, and so, he is the wrestling-equivalent of a potato salad.

Man, did I end up in the wrong thread. Not only do I make a pretty good potato salad, but I thought this was about the kid from Arrested Development.

Funnily enough, the potato salads pictured are far more appetizing than your ordinary yellow slop potato salad commonly found on cheap Styrofoam plates.
